Etta Hansen

Christian Biography of Etta Ella Hansen

Etta Ella Hansen, the daughter of John and Katharina (Hofmann) Buehler, was born on a farm near Crab Orchard, Nebraska on December 31, 1907. She passed away on January 28, 2009 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 101 years and 28 days.
Etta was the third of four children and the only daughter. Etta attended Wayland Country School and graduated in 1925 from Crab Orchard High School. She then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for two years where she was a member of Willard Sorority and the May Day Court. The following four years Etta taught in the elementary school in Hardy. In Hardy she met her future husband, Oscar William Hansen, a local farmer. They were married at Hopewell Methodist Church near Adams on March 17, 1934. They started their married life on a rented farm northwest of Hardy during the dust bowl and had many stories to tell about those days. To this union two children were born, Cynthia Kay and Dix Donovon. In 1938 the Hansen’s moved to their farm two miles east of Superior, where Etta lived until moving to Superior after Oscar's death July 2, 1983.
Etta was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, having been baptized and confirmed at Hopewell Methodist, and belonged to the Superior Methodist Church for nearly 70 years. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and serving in many capacities in the Women's Society for Christian Service and the Circles.
She served on the Brodstone Hospital Board, was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Valley Home Extension Club and the SHS Band Mothers Club. An avid Bridge player, Etta also enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, quilt making, flower gardening and her grandchildren. The Superior Good Samaritan Center became her home in April 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, brothers Andrew, Harry and Lawrence Buehler and their wives.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Dybdahl and husband F. Eugene of Perrysburg, Ohio; her son, Dix Hansen and wife Paula of Polk, Missouri; Grandchildren,Julie (James) Meidlinger, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Shannon Hansen, Kansas City, Missouri: Brooke (Joe) Bradshaw, Sedalia, Missouri; Katarina (Edward) Waag, Cleveland, Ohio; Becky (Warren) Forbes, Kearney, Nebraska. Great grandchildren, Kirsten and Nathan Meidlinger and Shelby Bradshaw, brother-in-law George Hansen and wife Ardeth of Hardy, three sisters-in-law, and a host of many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dorthea Fairbanks officiating. Special music by Cynthia and Eugene Dybdahl.
Pallbearers were Milan Hansen, Edward Waag, Lee Hansen, Shannon Hansen, Warren Forbes and Steve Gunn. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Meidlinger, Joe Bradshaw, Tom Sorensen, Tom Rathbun and Arlo Hansen.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior Nebraska.

Geneva Sloane

Christian Biography of Geneva Sloane

Geneva Edna Sloane, the daughter of Andrew and Hanna (Ahlvers) Darling, was born on April 18, 1927 at Glen Elder, Kansas. She passed away on January 25, 2009 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 9 days.
Geneva attended country school near Concordia, Kansas. In June of 1945 she was united in marriage to Samuel Mohler and to this union seven children were born. He passed away on June 12, 1964. On August 23, 1974 she was united in marriage to Max Sloane. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and aunt, and a special friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed flowers and gardening,sewing, painting and making gifts for her children and grandchildren, sitting on her porch and visiting with family and friends as they came to visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel and husband Max, Two brothers, Wilber Darling and Doyle Darling and two sisters, Helen Ewer and Irene Gholson and a grandson Timothy James Mohler.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Bitterman and husband Dick of Sutton, Nebraska, Samuel Mohler and wife Roberta of Superior, Nebraska, Denny Mohler and wife Judy of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kenneth Mohler and wife Susan of Missoula, Montana, Ronald Mohler of Superior, Nebraska, Connie Rohan and husband James of Superior, Nebraska and Juli Mohler and fiance Bob Jones of Emporia, Kansas; 19 grandchildren, Tonia Daza and husband Gabriel of Sutton, Nebraska, Laticia Carter and husband Greg of Superior, Nebraska, Toby Mohler and wife Stephanie of Grand Island, Nebraska, Gwen Mohler of Hebron, Nebraska, Stacey Meyers and husband James of Grand Junction, Colorado, Nonda Goodall and husband Phil of Sutton, Nebraska, Todd Mohler and wife Taye of Woodbury Minnesota, Mary Mohler of Superior, Nebraska, Kenneth Mohler Jr. and wife Kristin of Missoula, Montana, Tessa Fielder and husband Casey of Sutton, Nebraska, Dawnita Mohler of Lincoln, Nebraska, Marcie Mohler of Superior, Nebraska, Sam Mohler of Hastings, Nebraska, Joseph Mohler and Casey Mohler both of Superior, Nebraska, Ronald Mohler Jr. and Calven Secrest both of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Michael Rohan and Racheal Rohan both of Hastings, Nebraska; 17 great-grandchildren, Andrew Wortman of Sutton, Nebraska, Kristina Carter of Superior, Nebraska, Ahsha Goodall of Sutton, Nebraska, Makayla and Acena Carter of Superior, Nebraska, Austin and Marshall Meyers of Grand Junction, Colorado, Mason and Toryn Mohler of Missoula, Montana, Nicholas and Hannah Mohler of Grand Island, Nebraska, Jack, Elizabeth and Ava Mohler of Woodberry Minnesota, Natalie and Jayden (J.J.) Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Patsy Busey officiating.
Music was “Amazing Grace,” and “In The Garden,” with Alicia Ferguson as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.
Pallbearers were Sam R. Mohler, Joe Mohler, Todd Mohler, Toby Mohler, Casey Fielder and Andrew Wortman. Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Bostwick Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Frances Drudik

Christian Biography of Frances Drudik

Frances Anna Drudik, the daughter of Frank James and Mary Frances (Petr)Drudik, was born on September 13, 1918 on her parents farm near Deweese, Nebraska. She passed away on January 22, 2009 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years.
Frances attended Roth country school near Deweese. During her lifetime she worked as a housekeeper and for a short time she also worked in a café in Nelson.
Frances was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, Henry and Adolph Drudik and foster sister, Betty Lukasek.
Survivors include her sister Elsie Ruhga of Nelson, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, Sue Hagmann and husband Mike of Grand Island, Nebraska, Pat Veburg and husband Wally of Hordville, Nebraska, Richard Ruhga of Ord, Nebraska and Tony Lukasek of Hastings, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM
from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson, Nebraska with Father Brad Zitek officiating. Music was “How Great Thou Art,” and “Amazing Grace,” with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Jim Spirk as organist.
Pallbearers were Matthew Veburg, Wally Veburg, Mike Hagmann, Arlan Drudik, Tony Lukasek, and Richard Ruhga.
Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

Billy Overturf

Christian Biography of Billy L. Overturf

Billy Lynn Overturf, the son of Maurice and Pansy (Grossman) Overturf was born on April 28, 1925 on a farm near Angus, Nebraska. He passed away on January 21, 2009 at the Edgewood Vista Sr. Living in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 24 days.
Billy was educated in a country school near Ong and graduated from Edgar High School. He was united in marriage to Ellen Maxine Kubicek on February 20, 1949 in Ong, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two children.
Billy lived in the Oak and Angus area through out his lifetime. He served on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the University of Nebraska Lester F. Larson Tractor Museum, and the Nuckolls County Museum and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
Billy was a long time enthusiast of Case tractors as well as all things collectible.
Due to his health Billy entered the Edgewood Vista in Hastings on November 23, 2008, where he lived until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Ellen of Superior, Nebraska; daughters, Pamela Lynn Pearson and husband Randall of Davenport, Nebraska and Kay Ilene Knutson and husband Richard of Alma, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Scott Pearson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Reese Pearson and wife Chaaron of Alexandria, Virginia, Beth Schweitzer and husband Jason of Atlanta, Georgia and Kara Knutson of Arvada, Colorado; and two great grandchildren, Ava and Braylin Schweitzer; other relatives and a host of friends.


Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dorthea Fairbanks officiating. Music was congregational hymns “Amazing Grace,” and “How Great Thou Art,” with Betty Schott as organist.
Pallbearers were Randall Pearson, Richard Knutson, Jason Schweitzer. Scott Pearson, Reese Pearson, and Mitchell Kubicek.
Private family interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

Margaret Warren

Christian Biography of Margaret M.Warren

Margaret M. Warren, the daughter of John and Stella (Schieb) Leece, was born on May 20, 1917 on her parents farm near Lovewell, Kansas. She passed away on January 21, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 1 day.
Margaret was one of seven children. She was educated at Lovewell grade school and graduated from Lovewell High School. She was a lifetime member of Lovewell Methodist Church later being United Methodist Church in Webber, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Ivan Warren on March 3, 1937. This union was blessed with three children.
Margaret lived all her life in the Lovewell, Kansas area, except for a few months they lived in Salina, Kansas.
Margaret loved to sew and do crafts, especially for her children and grand children. She liked to sing while doing the dishes, and she taught Kimberly to sing. She enjoyed visits from her family and friends. She always had a big garden and her family loved her homemade apple, chocolate and butterscotch pies, along with her chocolate cakes. She was a member of the Library Club and the United Methodist Women’s Circle.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan on April 24, 1992; son, Rodney; two brothers, Elvin and Ivan Leece and four sisters, Greta Skiver, Arlene Perrill, Wynetta Ball and Inga Courter.
Survivors include her son, Douglas Warren and wife Cheryl of Formoso, Kansas, daughter, Margo Baird and husband David of Mankato, Kansas and daughter-in-law, Linda Warren of Superior, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; Craig Warren and wife Mary and Monty Warren and friend Amy Roseta all of Wichita, Kansas, Tony Warren and wife Angela of Hastings, Nebraska, Troy Warren and friend Jay of Pueblo Colorado, Eric Warren and wife Robin of Hastings, Nebraska, Devin Wilson and wife Holly of Lenexa, Kansas, Melanie Zoltenko and husband Lannin of Superior, Nebraska, Haley Wilson, of Incline Village, Nevada, Kimberly Mitchell and husband Robert Okinawa, Japan and Jayson Baird and wife Staci of San Francisco, California; 16 great grandchildren; Anthony and Jessica Warren, Cody, Isabelle, Nathan and Courtney Warren, Garrett and Ian Warren, Dustin and Darren Warren, Sam & Zach Wilson, Chandler and Taran Zoltenko, Mia & Ellerie Mitchell; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the
Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Joyce Beam officiating. Music was “How Great Thou Art,” and “On Eagle’s Wing’s,” with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.
Pallbearers were Craig Warren, Monty Warren, Tony Warren, Troy Warren, Eric Warren, Jayson Baird and Cody Warren. Honorary Pallbearers were Bert Diamond, Willard Mettler and Ed Marr.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery near Lovewell Kansas.

Norma Reeve

Christian Biography of Norma L. Reeve

Norma Lynn Reeve, the daughter of Norman and Leta (Daniel) Reeve, was born on November 24, 1954 Colorado Springs, Colorado. She passed away on December 30, 2008 at her home in Nelson at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 5 days.
As the child of a military family Norma lived in many places growing up including, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Fairbanks, Alaska, Anchorage, Alaska, Tacoma Washington, Dover, Delaware, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She graduated from Ft. Walton Beach High School with the class of 1973. She was married to Larry Festa on April 13, 1973 at Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and to this union Amy was born. They were later divorced. On March 29, 1983 she was united in marriage to Jon Sunday in Nelson, Nebraska and to this union, Megan was born. They were later divorced.
Norma was a seamstress and could sew anything. She made the wedding dress her sister-in-law Candy wore for her wedding, and even helped repair the schools bus seats. She had owned her own seamstress shop in Ft. Walton, Florida for a time. She was a member of the Quilters Guild and helped found the Sewing Cottage for the York Nebraska Female Penitentiary. She was also a cosmetologist in Kearney for a short time and was a nurses aid at the Nelson Good Samaritan Center and in Lincoln, Nebraska. She enjoyed reading, gardening, doll making, fishing, camping and any kind of animal, especially her cats. She loved her family and her grandchildren who she took care of and raised. She loved to watch them in their school activities and seeing them play in sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Lillie Daniel and grandfather, Clyde Reeve.
She is survived by her parents, Norman and Leta Reeve of Nelson, Nebraska, grandmother, Bessis Reeve of Nelson, Nebraska. Daughters, Amy DeLaney of Ft. Worth, Texas and Megan Sunday of Hastings, Nebraska. Four grandchildren, Claire, Anthony
and Sophia Delaney and Lillie Sunday. One sister, Nannette Jenkins of Cisco, Texas and on brother, Tim Reeve and wife Candy of Nelson, Nebraska along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Stephen Berry officiating. Music was recordings of “I’ll Fly Away”, When We All See Jesus” and “Holes In The Floor Of Heaven”. Sherone Sader was organist.
Pallbearers were Glen Sunday, Bruce Jeffs, Mike Culbertson, Tom Wilson, Kevin Stout and Jim Woerner. Honorary Pallbearers were Emil and Geraldine Stichka, Becky Woerner, Sharon Sole, Gordon and Darlene Farver and Sherone Sader..
Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

Joe Langer

Christian Biography of Joe Jay Langer

Joe Jay Langer, the son of Glen “Pidge” Walter and Frieda Grace (Harkins) Langer, was born on December 12, 1947 at Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on December 30, 2008 at the St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois at the age of 61 years and 18 days.
Joe graduated from Superior High School. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he earned his bachelors degree and furthered his education, receiving his Masters at Frostburg State College, Frostburg, Maryland in Management. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison, Wisconsin.
On December 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Elizabeth Braye at the United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska and to this union two children were born, Matthew and Trista. He entered into the United States Army on June 18, 1970 and retired with the rank of Major on June 30, 1990. During his military service he received the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal earning 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Meritorious Service Medal earning 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. After his military service he was Deputy Commander for the Administration U.S. Army Medical Material Center in Europe, Pirmasens, Germany where he earned the U.S. Army Order of Military Medical Merit, the Commanders Award for Civilian Service and the Expert Field Medical Badge as a civilian.
During Joe’s lifetime he lived in several communities, Landstahl, Germany, Kleinstein Hausen, Germany, Pirmasens, Germany, Vicenza, Italy, Ft. Lewis, Washington, Ft. Detrick, Maryland, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Ft. Richardson, Alaska, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, Walkersville, Maryland, Lincoln, Nebraska and Superior, Nebraska.
Joe was a member of the Ramstein Golf Course, and the Ramstein Officer’s Club, he was a Boy Scout leader and supported the Fisher House Foundation.
Joe loved to golf, any season, any location. He had the pleasure and experience as many great golfers, to play at St. Andrews golf course in Scotland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Frieda Langer.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Middleton, Wisconsin, son, Matthew Langer and daughter Trista Langer both of Middleton, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his sister, DeVee Smalley of Superior, Nebraska and her family; Debra Smalley, Deon Smalley and Cecil and Audrey Smalley, Donnie and Betty Kay, sister, Crystal Marker of Tecumseh, Nebraska and her family Julie and Dan Holgate, Jared and Bryan Holgate, John and Brenda Ahrens, Kalyn and Jansen Ahrens, Ayme and Scott Gerber, Bill and Jacqueline Baird and Kaita, sister, Frona Wall of Hastings, Nebraska and her family, Jeff and Karen Wall, Jacob and Joshua Wall, Randy and Michelle Wall, Ryan and Angie, sister, Judy Schott and Husband Alvin of Nelson, Nebraska and her family, Sandra and Ron Schendt, Lance and Deidre Schendt, Susan and Cameron Trombley, Sheri and Art Watts, Camron, Travis and Alyssa, brother, Stephen Langer and wife Janice Lee of Upton, Wyoming, and his family Ross and Misty Langer, Camille and Savannah, Clint and Jill Langer, Gail and Shane Lee and Katelyn. Sister-in-law, Shirley Swanstrom of Sidney, Nebraska and her family, Nick and Cheri Swanstrom, Kitska and Alicia, David and Marsha Swanstrom, Pam and Bob Kerns and Brent and Jacob Wilderman. Brother-in-law, Larry and Connie Braye of Arvada, Colorado and his family, Tammy and Greg Garner, Tyler, Tanner and Kenzi and Wendy and Nick Davies. He is also survived by his aunt, Pauline Harkins of Superior, Nebraska, and uncles, Jerry and Gloria Harkins of Cortez, Colorado and Butler Harkins of Oxnard, California along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor David Johnson officiating. The eulogy was given by (COL., 06 RET.) Jettaka Alexander, (BRIG> Gen. RET.) Richard L. Ursone and Debra Smalley. Music was “A New Star Up In Heaven Tonight,” and “The Impossible Dream,” with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.
Pallbearers were Rex Kirchhoff, Ron Alexander, John Ahrens, Cecil Smalley, Jeffrey Wall and Randall Wall. Honorary Pallbearers were Stephen Langer, Larry Braye, Alvin Schott, Marvin Smidt, Ross Langer and Clint Langer.
Interment with Full Military Rites and “61" balloon release -signifying Joe’s life and age was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers the Langer family requests consideration of a donation to the Joe Langer Research Fund in care of Kathleen Langer, 8570 Greenway Blvd. #306, Middleton, WI 53562.

Kenneth Hurd

Christian Biography of Kenneth Hurd

Kenneth Hurd, the son of William and Nellie (Dixon) Hurd, was born on December 31, 1917 on a farm north of Webber, Kansas. He passed away on December 25, 2008 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Kenneth attended the Superior Public School system and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1934. He was united in marriage to Helen Marie McElroy
on July 8, 1941 at Quinter, Kansas. To this union they were blessed with 3 children, Wayne, Margaret and an infant son who died in 1953.
He was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian and now the Grace Community Evangelical Free Church in Superior. Kenneth was manager of the Ideal Market in Superior for many years. He also worked for the Safeway and Jack and Jill stores in Superior as butcher and produce manager. Helen and Kenneth enjoyed their retirement years in Superior. Kenneth entered the Superior Good Samaritan Center in 2006.
Kenneth was a founding member of the Superior Lions Club, Boy Scout Leader, church elder and former secretary of the Superior Bowling League. He enjoyed fishing,
bowling, photography and singing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Helen on May 14, 2001, and an infant son, two brothers, Hollis and Wallace and one sister, Lucille Shill.
Survivors include his son, Wayne and wife Pat of Beatrice, Nebraska; daughter, Margaret and husband Brian Stranghoner of Wichita, Kansas; 4 grandchildren, Russell

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM from
the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Congregation hymns were “The 23rd Psalm” and “Amazing Grace” with Betty Schott as organist.
Pallbearers were Brian Stranghoner, Robb Barker, Russell Hurd, Darrell Hurd, Don Blackstone, and Richard Nelson.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
Memorials may go to the Grace Community Evangelical Free Church or the Lions Club.

Christian Biography of Mabel R. Davis

Mabel Rosa Davis, the daughter of William and Rosa (Lichtenberg) Ebsen, was born on December 20, 1905 at near Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska in Saunders County. She passed away on December 19, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 102 years, 11 months and 30 days.
As a very small child Mabel moved with her parents to a farm near Bostwick, Nebraska. She received most of her schooling in the Bostwick public schools, and graduated from Superior High School in 1924.
On November 19, 1936 she was married to Lloyd L. Davis of Burr Oak, Kansas.
They established their home on a farm in Jewell County Kansas, southwest of Superior.
There they lived for 33 years until retiring, when they moved into Superior in 1969.
Mabel received Jesus Christ as her Savior in the early fifties and soon became a member of the Olive Hill Church where she remained an active and faithful member.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lloyd on January 30, 1979, sister, Clarabel Adams and Leonard Ebsen.
Survivors include her; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor David Watters officiating. Music was “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Beyond The Sunset” sung by Stephanie Thayer with Carlita Erickson as organist.
Pallbearers were Ken Winslow, Lance Winslow, Roger Wilton, Bill Blauvelt, Richard Nelson and Roy May. Honorary Pallbearers were Loren Renz, Steve Diehl and Kenneth Duncan.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
Memorials may go to the Olive Hill Church, south of Superior, Nebraska.

Christian Biography of Mildred Buresh

Mildred Irene Buresh, the daughter of Albin and Inez (Blackburn) Holmquist, was born on April 26, 1918 near Las Animas, Colorado. She passed away on December 17, 2008 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 21 days.
Mildred attended public schools in Las Animas and graduated in 1936. Her family moved to Wendell, Idaho where her family farmed, raising potatoes and livestock.
Mildred met James Buresh in Idaho. They were married on March 15, 1937 in Kimberly, Idaho and returned to Oak, Nebraska where they farmed and raised their family. Mildred enjoyed sewing, crafts, painting, and bowled in leagues in Hebron and Edgar.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim in 1988, daughter Joyce Joann in 1953 and brothers Harold and Don Holmquist.
She is survived by sons Mike and wife Ellen of Davenport, Nebraska, Paul and wife Marcia of Nelson, Nebraska, and Tom of Davenport, Nebraska and daughter RoxAnn Casebolt and husband Roger of Lake Worth, Florida. Eleven grandchildren Steve and Mary Jo Buresh of Plainville, Kansas, Doug and Beth Buresh of Kansas City, Missouri, Nick and Cindy Buresh of Lincoln, Nebraska, Scott and Kim Buresh of Columbia, Missouri, Shawn Buresh of Nelson, Nebraska, Tonya and Rye DeGarmo of Beloit, Kansas, Chad and LaRae Buresh of Wallace, Nebraska, Adam and Melissa Casebolt of Orlando, Florida, Jaime and TJ Swendener of Beatrice, Nebraska, Amanda Casebolt of Lake Worth, Florida and Austin and Meranda Buresh of Hastings, Nebraska; fifteen great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Raymond Buresh and wife Louise; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the
First Community Church in Oak, Nebraska with Pastor Steve Matthews officiating.
Music was congregational hymns, “Amazing Grace,” and “How Great Thou Art,” with Cloma Corman as organist.
Pallbearers Steve Buresh, Doug Buresh, Nick Buresh, Scott Buresh, Shawn Buresh, Chad Buresh, Adam Casebolt and Austin Buresh. Honorary Pallbearers were Tonya DeGarmo, Jaime Swendener, and Amanda Casebolt.
Interment was in the Davenport Cemetery at Davenport, Nebraska.
