Christian Biography of Jane Tipton
Jane Tipton, the daughter of William and Audie (Billingsley) Lyons, was born on June 26, 1929 in Violet Hill, Arkansas. She passed away on April 5, 2013 at John Knox Village House, Lees Summit, Missouri at the age of 83 years, 9 months, 10 days.
Jane graduated from Beloit High School in 1947. After high school, Jane attended Joseph’s College of Beauty in Hastings, Nebraska. She owned and operated Jane’s Beauty Shop in Superior, retiring in 1994 after 40 years. She attended the United Methodist Church in Webber, Kansas and later the Church of Christ in Superior.
On July 20, 1947 in Beloit, Kansas she was united in marriage to Wayne LaVerne Tipton. This union was blessed with 3 children, Robert, Nancy and Debra. Together they farmed and raised livestock near Webber, Kansas.
She was a member of the Valley View Club. She loved to go camping at Lovewell Lake and also Big Creek Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her adopted parents Guy & Carrie Underkofler, husband Wayne on February 28, 1995 and one brother Lamar Lyons.
She is survived by her son, Robert Tipton and wife Dee of Superior, Nebraska; daughter Nancy Bennett and husband Ron of Lees Summit, Missouri; and Debra Simonsen and husband Lynn of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law Nyla Hall of Brownsville, Texas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Missie Wilt officiating.
Music was “Amazing Grace,” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” with Tiffany Willet as soloist and Carlita Price as organist.
Book signing was held on April 12, 2013 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Inurnment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
