Christian Biography of Wauhnetta M. Gebers

Wauhnetta Margaret Gebers, the daughter of Herman and Rosaline (Oldigs) Hespen, was born on September 9, 1932 near Deshler, Nebraska. She passed away on June 14, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital at the age of 80 years, 9 months, 5 days.

Wauhnetta attended school in Thayer County Nebraska. She was baptized on September 25, 1932 and confirmed on May 15, 1948 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, Nebraska. Wauhnetta married the love of her life; Clarence E. Gebers on June 18, 1950 at Peace Lutheran and to this union two children were born. They were married for 62 years.

She was a 56 year member of the Salem Lutheran Church of rural Superior. During her life she lived in the communities of Deshler, Nora and Superior. Together they farmed for a few years in the Deshler area and then moved to Nora, Nebraska where they owned and operated the Nora Grocery for several years. She was post mistress at the Nora Post Office for many years and custodian of the Salem Lutheran Church for 42 years. She volunteered at the Nuckolls County Museum, was a member of the Nora Coffee Club and the Nora County Election Board. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, reading and walking. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all received beautiful quilts or afghans as gifts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Raymond and sister-in-law Avis Hespen, sister, Velma Fintel and brother-in-law, Herman Fintel, brother-in laws, Gene Weiss, Don Skeahan , Conrad Wiger, Gary Fuller and Arlen Ritterling.

She is survived by her husband Clarence of Superior, her daughter Debra Corman and husband Doug of Grand Island, Nebraska and son Dennis Gebers and wife Carla of Superior, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Jason Corman and wife Tracy of Queen Creek, Arizona, Nathan Corman and wife Stephanie of Grand Island, Nebraska, Lorrie Corman of Omaha, Nebraska, Tyson Gebers and Carly Gebers of Superior, Nebraska. Three great-grandchildren, Cash, Elyot and Atleigh Corman of Grand Island, Nebraska. She is also survived by five sisters, Lovetta Weiss of Lincoln, Nebraska, Darlene Wiger of Minnesota, Rachel Skeahan of Arkansas, Loxie Ehlers and husband Arnold of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Ruth Gray of Lincoln, Nebraska and a sister-in-law, Verna Fuller of Deshler, Nebraska along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Salem Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska with Pastors Don and Margaret Olsen officiating.

Music was congregational hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and “Rock Of Ages” with Sonia Schmidt as organist.

Visitation was held on Monday from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Jason Corman, Nathan Corman, Tyson Gebers, Ivan Fintel, Arnold Ehlers and Wesley Fuller. Honorary bearers were Lorrie Corman, Carly Gebers, Cash Corman, Elyot Corman and Atleigh Corman.

Interment was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go in care of the family.
