The Megrue-Price Funeral Home, built in 1895, originally was the home of the James H. Morrison family. The following is a brief history of the funeral business in Superior. One of the first undertakers in Superior was George Brown. In 1907, Frank Southard operated an undertaking and furniture business in the building now occupied by ? . In the late 1920's, Charlie Phillippi, the father of Mrs. H.H. Miller, operated the Phillippi undertaking and furniture business with funeral director Robert Denny in the building that now houses Gary Thompson Insurance. Clarence Zulauf purchased the undertaking business from Phillippi in 1940 and moved it to the present location of the Megrue-Price Funeral Home. Zulauf also employed Denny and the name was later changed to the Zulauf-Denny Funeral Home.

In 1947, Denny purchased the business from Zulauf. Wayne Megrue, who had been a funeral director serving Superior, Hardy, Rusking, Webber, Nora, Byron and Burr Oak and his wife Zelma, purchased the firm and the name was later changed to the Megrue-Price Funeral Home.

The Klawitter-Price Funeral Home, built in the late 1800's, was established by the Bogg’s Brothers. In 1902, Mr. E.E. Althouse (the father of Mrs. Ralph Mumma) purchased the business from the Bogg’s Brothers. Due to failing health of Mr. Althouse, the business was sold to Mr. J. W. Roby in 1906, who operated the funeral home until his death in 1922. His wife, Mrs. Gertrude Roby, continued operating the business with Mr. A. G. Klawitter as the funeral director. Mr. Klawitter purchased the business from Mrs. Roby in 1928, and on te retirement of Mr. Klawitter, the name was later changed to the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home.

Since it’s beginning, our funeral homes has been remodeled and adapted to meet the changing needs of the funeral business. In 1974, the Megrue-Price Funeral Home added the All Faith’s Chapel to the building. In 1996 both the Megrue-Price Funeral Home and the Klawitter Price Funeral Home were remolded to its original Victorian style and in 2004 the Megure-Price Chapel installed a state of the art Sound and Video projection system.
