Christian Biography of Jesse H. Jensen Jesse Herbert Jensen, the son of Herbert and Mildred (Schlamann) Jensen, was born on June 20, 1949 at Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on July 10, 2010 at his home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 61 years and 20 days. Jesse was baptized on July 17, 1949 at the Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior, Nebraska by Rev. J. Alvin Rueter and he was confirmed on June 2, 1963 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska by the Rev. Henry E. Moyer. Jesse attended and graduated from Hardy High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Curtis. He was currently a member of the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior. On May 19, 1973 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Kapperman at the St. John Lutheran in Chester, Nebraska and to this union was born three children. Jesse served in the United States Air Force from November 19, 1969 to May 5, 1972. He was a member of the Nebraska American Legion, Hardy American Legion Post #179 Commander, District 10 Commander, Area C Commander, State Vice Commander and Honorary State Commander. He also formally served as a Nuckolls County Commissioner and Nuckolls County Weed Superintendent as well as holding many offices in his church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Superior, children, Darren Jensen and wife Melanie of Elizabeth, Colorado, Jason Jensen and wife Melissa of Superior, Nebraska and Sarah Mata and husband Greg of Fort Worth, Texas. Four grandchildren, Paige, Makenna and Brenden Jensen and Connor Mata. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, James Jensen of Nelson, Nebraska, Jerry Jensen and wife Gail of North Platte, Nebraska, Jay Jensen and wife Linda of Chester, Nebraska, Jolene Jensen of York, Nebraska and Serita Karmazin and husband Darold of Lincoln, Nebraska. A sister in law, Merideth Jensen of Clay Center, Nebraska along with a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Brian Earl officiating. Congregational Hymns was "Crown Him With Many Crowns", "Battle Hymn Of The Republic", "Lift High The Cross" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", with Heather Dahl as organist and Joel Jensen on Trumpet.

Pallbearers were Roger Peterson, Rod Simonsen, Kenny Edwards, Phillip Schlueter, Lynn Schnakenberg, and Cliff Obink. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse’s grandchildren, Paige Jensen, Makenna Jensen and Brenden Jensen and Connor Mata.

Interment with Full Military Rites was in the Hardy Cemetery at Hardy, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the Centennial Lutheran Church or the Nebraska American Legion.
