Christian Biography of Robert E. "Bob" Noren
Robert E. Noren, the son of Edward C. and Leota (Pittman) Noren, was born on December 9, 1920 in Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on August 17, 2010 at his home in Prairie Village, Kansas at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 8 days after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Superior in 1932 where he was a lifelong active member serving in many capacities including the choir, Sunday school and youth teacher, Southern Union Association, several American Baptist Churches of Nebraska offices, and was honored to be named a Deacon Emeritus.
After serving in World War II as a pilot through the Army Air Forces training bombardiers he returned to Ottawa University in Kansas to compete his B.S. degree where he met Ruth Phelps. They were married at the Harrisburg Church near Bonaparte, Iowa on July 12, 1947 moving back to Superior to reside and later raise their family, daughter, Linda and son, Ron. He became Manager of Superior Building and Loan and later was Executive Vice President of Security National Bank until his retirement in 1984.
Bob was always active in his community and over the years fulfilled many roles including Charter member of the Lions Club and the Elks Club, Commander of the American Legion Saint Mihiel Post 0103 participating often as Master of Ceremonies and playing taps for Memorial Day Services as part of the Veteran's Color Guard, served as county chair for several state politicians, established the Laundr-Mat, and also built Superior Manor Housing with partner, Keith Eickmann. He enjoyed many recreational sports including softball, tennis, skating, bowling and golf especially with his grandson, Jason and granddaughter, Tessa.
Bob loved children, as he enjoyed having his nephew, Carl, and niece, Joy, while their parents served as missionaries in Hong Kong. He spent many hours amusing not only the boy scouts of which he was a Leader but many other young friends and relatives with his magic tricks, jokes and other entertainments. Many will always think of him as the life of the party with his marvelous sense of humor and store house of stories.

memories comfort you as we wait for the return of our Lord! Quote
I am so very sorry for your loss. My favorite memory of Bob happened at a Country Club party many years ago. Bob asked me if I would like to dance, of course I said yes…and he replied, "Great, I hope someone asks you." The look on my face must have surpised him…because he did dance with me and it became our private joke as we laughed about it for years to come…I can't remember a time after visiting with him that I didn't walk away from him with a smile on my face…what a wonderful person he was!!!
Hugs to all of you,
