Christian Biography of Christy A. Clabaugh
Christine Ann Clabaugh, the daughter of Ira Laverne and Dayle (Perryman) Clabaugh, was born on September 21, 1963 in Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on January 1, 2012 at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska at the age of 48 years, 3 months, 11 days.
Christy grew up in Nelson and attended Nelson Public and Hastings Public Schools. While in school she
participated in Special Olympics winning many medals and earning the right to participate in the games in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She cleaned for several years at the Commercial Bank in Nelson, and a short time at the Superior Police Department and also helped at the Nelson Public Library. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at the Nelson High School. When her father entered the nursing home she resided with her sister in Nelson for a few years, and a brief time in the Superior Good Samaritan Center before going to Mid Nebraska Individual Services. She loved having her own apartment there, her "own place", to prepare her own meals, host parties and decorate as she pleased. She stayed until health concerns caused her move to Harvard Rest Haven. She loved spending time with family, and friends and helping other people. Anyone who ever met Christy never forgot her and was her best friend. She loved being 'on the go', going shopping, 'out to eat', and on 'nice rides'. Even in her final days when she was in the hospital in ICU, she wanted to go shopping and out to eat, stating "I'll come back, I promise". While in Nelson she never missed a Nelson home football game yelling and cheering at the sidelines, and attended as many community events as possible. She was a avid Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, always dressed in one of her many Nebraska shirts, she loved to host 'game day' parties with snacks for halftime and even a football pool, which she hated to lose. She was able to attend a Nebraska home football game once a year for the past several years. She loved the holidays, and hosting parties for every occasion, and always going 'all out', with decorations, food and games. She wrote stories and made scrapbooks about everything from weather events, to football and family. She loved her soap operas, and listening to country music, usually singing along. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to tease and play jokes on people and a truly infectious laugh. When she said 'pleeez' it was really hard to say 'no'. Christy never knew she had limitations, she always wanted to do or try it all..
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael.
She is survived by two brothers, John Clabaugh and friend Donna of Lincoln, Nebraska, Rick Clabaugh and wife Linda of Beatrice, Nebraska and sister, Mary Roberts and husband Jim of Hardy, Nebraska.
