The Staff at Price Funeral Homes are following the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) recommendation which allows funerals, party's must maintain a minimum of 6' apart and consist of a household unit or individual. This would include arrangements conferences, funeral services, gravesides and all visitations. We fully understand the importance for public gatherings to honor the lives of those we care about, the CDC believes common sense and limiting numbers at public gatherings is one of the most significant resources that may slow the spread and impact of this pandemic.

Christian Biography of Adalene Schlueter

Adalene Mae Schlueter, the daughter of William and Ella (Peters) Freitag, was born on January 31, 1936 on a farm near Byron, Nebraska. She passed away on December 1, 2020 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 10 months, 1 day.

She was baptized on February 16, 1936, by Pastor L. Hoefer. Due to a flu epidemic, she was baptized in the family home. She was confirmed on April 2, 1950, by Pastor A.A. Krause.

She received her elementary education at the Lone Star Country School in Thayer County. Upon her 8 ^th grade graduation, she attended Byron High School and graduated with the class of 1953.

Following her high school graduation, she attended Fairbury Junior College in the summer months to receive her teaching certificate. During the school year, she taught in several rural country schools.

In August of 1953, she said good-bye to her sweetheart, Arlen Schlueter, as he left for overseas duty in the army. One of her happiest days of her life was on March 17, 1955, when he returned home from England.

She was united in marriage to Arlen Fritz Schlueter on April 1, 1956, by Pastor H.W. Schiller at St. Peter Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with 4 children Valarie, Monica, Lindley and Shelly.

Adalene served on the church council, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of WELCA and held several offices. One of her favorite offices was the Mission in Action Group. She was employed as a checker at Ideal Market in Superior and later became an assistant librarian in the Superior Schools. She was a member of the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Hardy American Legion Auxiliary. After her retirement, she enjoyed being a substitute Para in the school. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing, needlework, and making quilts for the grandkids and for Lutheran World Relief.

She always was interested in attending the grandkids' various school and athletic activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ella and her brothers Marvin, Orin and Verdell Freitag; brothers-in-law Marvin Schlueter and Eric (Rick) Yarnell; and sisters-in-law, Hildreth and Deanna Freitag.

Survivors include her husband Arlen of Superior; her children Valarie (Bryan) Bard of Hardy; Monica (Paul) Hull of Goodyear, Arizona; Lindley (Melanie) Schlueter of Geneva; and Shelly (James) Scott of Broken Bow; 7 grandchildren: Derek and wife Gianni Hull, Brittanie Schlueter, Krisha Scott, Jacy Schlueter, Alec Schlueter, Kya Scott and Kailyn Scott and one great-grandchild, Kaylie Schlueter; sister Fern (Gene) Wittke of Byron, sisters-in-law Anita Freitag, Maureen "Ralph" Clark, Opal Yarnell, Lola May "Don" Huwaldt, Karen "Gary" Aksamit, Henrietta Schlueter, and Leora Freitag; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peters Luther Church rural Byron, Nebraska with Pastor Ethan Feistner officiating.

Music was "Amazing Grace."

Pallbearers were Travis Freitag, Landon Freitag, Justin Freitag, Richard Anderson, Scott Wittke and Matt Novosad. Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren Derek, Brittanie, Krisha, Jacy, Alec, Kya and Kailyn and her great granddaughter Kaylie.

Interment was in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, rural Byron, Nebraska.
