Alfred Arasmith

Alfred Vachel Arasmith, the son of James Harvey and Jesse Mae (Fields) Arasmith, was born September 16, 1928 in Brown's Creek Township, Jewell County, Kansas. He passed away in Waupaca, Wisconsin on November 22, 2015.


Alfred grew up in Jewell County on the family farm. Upon graduation with the Jewell High School Class of 1946, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he enrolled at Kansas State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1953. He worked as a geologist in Oklahoma, North Africa, and Wyoming.

Alfred was married to Donna Lea (Hansen) in 1962 until her death in 1989. Together they owned and operated Arasmith's Tavern in Hardy. Alfred was employed at the Ideal Cement Company, Nebraska Department of Roads, Pedersen Lumber Company, and the Village of Hardy over a 40 year period. After closing his tavern for the last time he moved to Salina, Kansas and married Karleen Thomas. They lived in Salina until relocating to Waupaca, Wisconsin in 2013.

Alfred is survived by wife Karleen, son Scot and wife Stacey, grandson Dane, step children Pastor Dee Ann and Ken Woods, Dale and Cathy Hutchcraft, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial tribute with Military Honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Superior at a date to be determined.
