Christian Biography of Jane Arlene Stenson

Jane Arlene Stenson, the daughter of Clarence and Viola (Aurand) Ellinger, was born on December 21, 1927 on the family farm near Lewistown, Pennsylvania. She passed away on July 17, 2014 at the Republic County Hospital at Belleville, Kansas at the age of 86 years, 6 months, 26 days.

Arlene attended Granville Township Elementary School, and graduated from Lewistown High School with the class of 1945.

She worked for a bank in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and later a bank in Harrisburg for many years. In 1971 she married Joe Stenson of Courtland, Kansas. He passed away in 2005. In 2011 she moved to Country Place Plus Assisted Living at Scandia, Kansas.

Arlene was an avid reader, especially of local and U.S. History, Bible history and was quite involved in genealogy research. She was a member of the Methodist church at Granville, Pennsylvania where she taught a ladies Sunday school class for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Marlin, David and Harry Ellinger all of the Lewistown area.

She is survived by stepsons Richard (Lorrie) Stenson of Wellington, Kansas and Mark Stenson of Courtland, Kansas; two step granddaughters and 6 step great grandchildren; sisters Mary Dahl of Superior, Nebraska and Sharon (William) McCahren of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Breen Marie Sipes officiating.

Music was congregational hymn "Amazing Grace," and "On Eagle's Wings," and "The Old Rugged Cross," instrumental by Carlita Price.

Visitation was held on Sunday from 2:00 PM to8:00 PM.

Pallbearers were Jack Clark, Clay Aurand, Dennis Lauritzen, Myron Eitzmnn, Jim File and Harrell Roe.
Interment was in the Rosemound Cemetery near Hardy, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to Republic County Library, 1327 19th St. Belleville, KS.
