Christian Biography of Atha Cassens

Atha Delores Cassens, the daughter of Donald and Wynetta (Larkins) Davidson, was born on August 26, 1924 on a farm near Byron, Nebraska. She passed away on July 7, 2017 at the Superior Good Smartian Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 10 months, 11 days.

Atha attended school at Byron, Nebraska. On January 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wayne Cassens and to this union was born two daughters, Delores and Nancy and two sons, Douglas and Wesley. Besides taking care of her family, Atha was a cook at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital for many years, and taught country school East of Byron in her younger years. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Superior and also the Christian Women's Club, Gideon's Auxiliary, Superior Camp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne on September 10, 1995, grandson's, Daniel Roesti and Mark Utecht. 4 sisters, Phyllis Davis, her twin, Ardith Hansen and Barb Hymas, Maxine Meyers, two brothers, Glen "Bud" and Gene, and her son-in-law Marvin Roesti.

She is survived by her daughters, Delores Roesti of Olathe, Kansas and Nancy (Jim) Miller of Lawrence, Nebraska, sons, Doug (Julie) Cassens of Webber, Kansas and Wes (Debra) Cassens of Hastings, Nebraska. 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Donna Jones of Agenda, Kansas; along with a host of many nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mason Cassens officiating.

Music was "Face To Face" and "In The Garden" with Alicia Reed as soloist. A recording of "Amazing Grace" was played and prelude was by Carlita Price as organist.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers were Matt Utecht, Bodie Cassens, Lucas Cassens, Mason Cassens, Milan Hansen and Dana Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Vince Roesti, Marilyn Beebe, Alicia Reed

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the Gideon's.
