Christian Biography of Benjamin G. Disney

Benjamin George Disney, the son of Robert and Mary Hayes Disney, was born on February 26, 1927 in Hebron, Nebraska. He passed away on March 31, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital at the age of 86 years, 1 month, 5 days.

Ben attended the Hardy and Superior public Schools. He was a member of the Superior Baptist Church where he served as deacon. On May 16, 1945 at Mankato, Kansas he was united in marriage to Mary Electa Reeve and to this union was born seven children.

Ben retired from the US Air Force in 1972 with 26 years of service attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was deployed during his military career to Japan, Korea, England, Germany, Thailand, Philippines, Panama, Vietnam having served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. During his military career he lived in Washington state, Texas, Maine, California, Missouri and Washington D.C. Ben was a 63 year member of the Masonic Lodge serving as Grand Master. He briefly worked for Dubuque packing in Mankato, working at the Mid America Dairy in Superior and retired from the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior in 1989 where he made lifelong friendships with his hospital family. He and Mary traveled all over the country to attend their family events, enjoyed his lifelong passion of golf, and enjoyed his morning coffee. One of his many loves was trading cars, and he most recently enjoyed his time at Ray's Auto working for Ray Biltoft.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary of 59 years, one daughter, Mary Margaret Disney, one son, Dennis James Disney, daughter-in-law Lyndall Disney, sister Marie Gray, granddaughter, Marla Sharp Ostrander and grandson Ryan Stocker.

He is survived by his daughters, Gloria Sharp and husband Ron of Superior, Nebraska, Kathy Carpenter and husband Mark of Sabetha, Kansas, Patricia Howe and husband Wayne of Olathe, Kansas and Mary Sauvain and husband Bill of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, one son John Disney and wife Deanna of Superior, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Floyd Richardson officiating with Masonic Rites following the services.

Music was recordings of "The King Is Coming" and "I Can Only Imagine" along with a solo of "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace" with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Price as organist and accompanist.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm with the family greeting friends from 6 – 8pm.

Pallbearers were Chad Sauvain, Phillip Howe, Benjamin Howe, Chris Stocker, Shannon Disney and Shon Disney. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Howe, Mark Carpenter, Ron Sharp, Bill Sauvain, Crystal Disney, Veronica Friesen and Mary Harris.

Interment with military rites was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

A memorial has been established and may be received in care of the family.
