Christian Biography of Bernice E. Miller

Bernice E. Miller, the daughter of Levi and Josephine (Kimminau) Miller, was born on August 10, 1926, on a farm near Cunningham, Kansas. Surrounded by the love of her family and sustained by her faith, she entered into eternal rest on July 14, 2026, at Brodstone Healthcare in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 99 years, 11 months, and 4 days.

Bernice was the oldest of ten children. She was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Willowdale, Kansas, and that faith remained the foundation of her life. She attended rural school through the eighth grade at St. Stephen's, near Lawrence, Nebraska, where she was also a faithful member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and its Altar Society serving as an officer and also wrote for the Catholic Register and correspondence for the local papers.

Bernice spent most of her life on the family farm near St. Stephen's. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors whenever she was needed, along with taking care of her aging parents and brothers. She enjoyed trips to town and treasured every opportunity to visit with family and friends. One of her special gifts was remembering the names and connections of family members, a reflection of the love and interest she held for each person.

After retiring from farm life, Bernice made her home in Superior, Nebraska, where she became an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its Altar Society. As her health declined, she moved to Kingswood Court, where she enjoyed several years of fellowship before becoming a resident of the Superior Good Samaritan Society. Throughout every season of life, Bernice relied on God's grace and found comfort in her faith.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Josephine Miller; her brothers, Vincent, Eugene, Bernard (Joan), and Wilfred (Helen); and her brothers-in-law, Jerome Mazour, Bill Rowley, and Glen Hulet.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Rita Miller, Alfred (Agnes) Miller, Rose Rowley, Betty Mazour, and Marge Hulet; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of dear friends.

Bernice's life was a beautiful example of quiet faith, humility, kindness, and devotion to family. May the Lord welcome her into His heavenly kingdom, where she now enjoys the fullness of His peace and the promise of everlasting life.
