Bessie Ruth Bass, the daughter of James and Anna (Hayen) Conyers, was born on October 22, 1916 on a farm near Marion, Kansas. She passed away on August 15, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 9 months, 24 days.
Bessie's family feels blessed to have had her as a mentor and loving Mother and Grandmother. She will be remembered for her hard work ethic, patience, artistic talents, compassion, encouragement, and most of all, no matter what life brought, her ability to adapt and handle each situation with quiet dignity. She was and will always be our special treasure.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, daughter Annabelle Schwarz, son Douglas Bass, sisters, Henrietta Richmond, Mabel Williams, Hazel Smith, and Bernice Sturdy, and brothers, Harold, Frank, Willard, Glenn and Clarence.
She is survived by her daughter Carlita Price of Superior, Nebraska, one son Robert H. Bass and wife Laura of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, six grandchildren, John Price Jr. and wife Clara of Superior, Nebraska, Joe Price and wife Julie of Leavenworth, Kansas, Amee Bezanis and husband Greg of LaGrange, Illinois, Andrew Schwarz of Satellite Beach, Florida, Sara Alcock and husband Zach of Chicago, Illinois and Carl Bass and wife Heather of LaGrange, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sidney, Ben, Caitlyn, Andrew, Bess, Billy, Rosie, C.J. and Dougie. She is also survived by one sister, Louise Grubb of Schreveport, Louisiana, sisters-in-law, Vivian Conyers and Dorothy Conyers of Marion, Kansas, and brother-in-law, Robert Sturdy of Wichita, Kansas, along with a host of many, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Eastmoor Methodist Church in Marion, Kansas with Pastor Mike Eurit officiating.
Music was recordings of "Lord You Have Come To The Lake Shore" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand".
Visitation was held on August 17, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior and from 11:00 am till services on Monday at the church.
Pallbearers were John Price Jr. Joe Price, Amee Bezanis, Sara Alcock, Carl Bass and Andrew Schwarz. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Claney Cemetery at Marion, Kansas.
