Christian Biography of Betty Schott

Elizabeth Arlene Schott, the daughter of Marcellus and Agnes (Heigh) Gilsdorf, was born on February 28, 1940 in Sandpoint, Idaho. She passed away on December 27, 2023 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 9 months, 29 days.

As a young girl, Betty moved with her family to Lawrence, Nebraska where she attended parochial school and graduated from Lawrence High School. She was baptized on March 5, 1940 in Sandpoint and confirmed in 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence.

She was united in marriage to Ronald Theodore Schott on August 26, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence. To this union five children were born. In growing up as a teen Betty worked at her mother's café "Lucille's Cafe" and while raising her family she managed the craft department and became an assistant manager of the Ben Franklin's Store, and was a cashier at Jack & Jill grocery store and worked in housekeeping.

She was a member of Farmerettes sing group, Altar Society, Fireman Auxiliary and the PTA. Betty enjoyed sewing, cross stitch and knitting and was a girl scout leader. She was dedicated in playing the organ at church for 46 years and she also volunteered playing the organ at the Nuckolls County Museum dressed as a pioneer during their festivities. As a side business she sold Amway products and Trasan cleaning cloths. Due to her health Betty moved to Parkview Haven in November of 2022 where she resided until her passing.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Mike Gilsdorf and Marc Brockman.

Survivors include her husband, Ron of Deshler; her children Melany (John) Whitlock of Hastings, Kevin (Leatha) of Kearney, Annette (Randy) Eiseman of Hardy, Tim (Renea) of Savannah, MO, and Julie (Brian) Schiermeyer of St. Joseph, MO; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and her brother Brian Brockman of Plano, TX; other relatives and a host of friends.
