Christian Biography of Beulah Maxine (Shroyer) Ray

Beulah Ray, the daughter of George and Dessie (Conley) Shroyer, was born on December 30, 1922 in Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on April 16, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 3 months, 17 days.

Beulah was one of two children. She attended Beaver Grade School and Superior High School graduating in 1941. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Superior. On June 15, 1941 Beulah was united in marriage to Bryce Eugene Ray in Wichita, Kansas and to this union five children were born. They lived in Wichita, Kansas for a few years before moving to a farm near Superior and raising their family. She entered the Superior Good Samaritan Society on January 28, 2013 due to her health.

Beulah retired after 36 years from Brodstone Memorial Hospital, she loved her job especially working in the nursery. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting pictures, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Rural Social Circle Extension Club, and the United Methodist Women and was a past 4-H leader.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bryce on July 14, 1999 and one brother Donald Shroyer.

She is survived by her children Milan Ray and wife Cathy of Superior, Nebraska; Murlene Schleufer and husband Irvin of Nelson, Nebraska; John Ray and wife Marsha of Superior, Nebraska; Terry Ray of Lincoln, Nebraska and Nancy Turley and husband Paul of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Jeffrey Ray and wife Cynthia and their children Trevi, Nathan and Olivia; Scott Ray and wife Tracy and their children Grace and Zachariah; Brian Ray and wife Lara and their children Grant, Tess and Tate; Dana Schleufer and wife Julie and their children Crystal, Katie and Jonathon; Daniel Schleufer, Lisa Baalman and husband Andy, Jason Ray and wife Emily, Justin Ray and wife Cortney and their daughter Madison; Jennifer Turley and Christopher Turley; 3 step grandchildren: Steve Hollon and wife Beth and their children, Scott Hollon and wife Aimee and Michael Hollon and wife Beth; Jeffrey Lewis and wife Crystal and their son Titus and Todd Lewis and wife Angie; and 3 step great great grandchildren: Harrison, Brigham and Analiese Hollon; sister-in-law Gladys Shroyer; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Superior United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Jocelyn Tupper officiating.

Music was "In The Garden," "Amazing Grace," sung by Stephanie Thayer and congregational hymn "Jesus Loves Me" with Carlita Price as the organist.

Visitation was held on April 19, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM with family present to greet friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Ray, Scott Ray, Brian Ray, Dana Schleufer, Dan Schleufer, Jason Ray, Justin Ray, and Christopher Turley. Honorary Pallbearers were Jennifer Turley and Lisa Baalman.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
