Christian Biography of Billie Jo Culbertson

Billie Jo "B.J." Culbertson, the son of Joseph and Alice (Bueoy) Culbertson, was born on May 28, 1929 on a farm near Oak, Nebraska. He passed away on April 7, 2013 at St Frances Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 10 months, 10 days.

B.J. attended school in Angus, Edgar and Nelson, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Doris Sanner on October 26, 1952 at Davenport, Nebraska and to this union four children were born. Billie and Doris owned Culbertson's store in Davenport for over 50 years.

B.J. was a member of the Nebraska Barbwire Collectors Association, the National Rifle Association, Barbwire Collection and the Antique Barbwire Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris on April 2, 2008; grandson James Knispel, great grandson Spencer Stuehm, and one brother Rolland "Tuffy."

He is survived by his daughters Eileen Lewison, Janet Bugay and husband Steve and Janice Knispel and husband Craig all of Kearney, Nebraska and Cathleen Brueggemann and husband Bill of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren Evan Stuehm, Eric Stuehm and children Makaylee and Rilee, Tyler Fehringer and wife Mikhala and son Mason, Danielle Kimple and husband Travis, Joseph Knispel and wife Amy, Jeremy Knispel, Jordan Knispel, Joanna and Justin Brueggemann; sister Bonnie Wicker of Edgar, Nebraska and brother Gary of Oak, Nebraska; sister-in-law Mary Culbertson of Nelson, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Private Funeral services were held on from the Urbauer-Price Funeral Home in Davenport, Nebraska with Bill Brueggemann officiating.

Music was "One Day at a Time," "Beyond the Sunset," "Lord's Prayer," and "Amazing Grace-My Chains Are Gone," sung by Craig and Joseph Knispel.

Pallbearers were Evan Stuehm, Eric Stuehm, Tyler Fehringer, Justin Brueggemann, Jeremy Knispel, and Jordan Knispel.

Interment was in the Davenport City Cemetery at Davenport, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to go to the Davenport Cemetery upkeep fund.
