Obituary

Bonnie Rae (Durflinger) Tambke Paul, the daughter of Arno Elis and Martha Pauline (Hofts) Durflinger, was born on October 24, 1934 at Hebron, Nebraska. She passed away on February 8, 2025 at her home north of Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 3 months, 15 days.

She lived in Hebron for a short time and the family then moved to a farm north of Edgar, Nebraska where she attended grade school and Sunday School. In 1948, her family moved back to Hebron where she attended and graduated from high school with the class of 1952.

She attended the First Christian Church faithfully, enjoyed singing in the Church choir. On March 25, 1951 she was baptized and confirmed by Pastor E. E. Bridwell. She taught Sunday School for several years.

She was employed at the Hested Store in Hebron as a clerk.

On November 1, 1952, in Belleville, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Leonard Kenneth Tambke. This union was blessed with four daughters. They lived in Hebron until 1959 when they moved to California, returning to Hebron in 1961. The family moved to Deshler in 1967 where she was employed at the Hebron and Deshler nursing homes as a Nurses Aid and the Deshler Public Schools as a teacher's assistant.

On February 17, 1975, Leonard passed away and she was married to Elmer Paul of Hardy on February 14, 1976. She worked side by side with Elmer as his bookkeeper in the family business until his retirement in 1984. They moved their home from Hardy to an acreage north of Superior in 1990.

Bonnie joined the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy in 1976 and took an active part in the WELCA. After moving to Superior she joined the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She did volunteer work at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior after her mother became a resident there. She enjoyed being with her mother and working with the elderly. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother to her children, and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her pets.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Leonard Tambke and Elmer Paul, brothers, Bill, Marv, Jim and J. D. and an infant sister, Armona Beth.

She is survived by her four daughters, Darla Sneath (Donald) of Plainville, Kansas, Lori Robertson (Robert) of Water Valley, Mississippi, Marsha Gerlach (Doug) of Papillion, Nebraska and Lisa Tambke of Superior, Nebraska. Five grandchildren, Christy Stahl (Cory) of Plainville, Kansas, Stephanie Nuss (Chad) of Plainville, Kansas, Tysha Fangmeier of Hastings, Nebraska, Dustin Fangmeier (Stephanie) of Wood River, Nebraska and Brandi Robertson of Water Valley, Mississippi along with eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with one on the way.

Private family services will be held on Saturday, February 15th with inurnment in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery at Deshler, Nebraska at a later date.
