Christian Biography of Carma Lou Tryon
Carma Lou Tryon, the daughter of Albin and Goldie (Hosick) Ostrom, was born on September 2, 1940 in North Platte, Nebraska. She passed away on June 25, 2013 at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 23 days.
Carma graduated from York High School, attended York College, and graduated from Ottawa College in Ottawa, Kansas with a Bachelor Degree. She taught for nearly 30 years, retiring after 15 years of service to the Lawrence/Nelson school district.
On January 27, 1963 she was united in marriage to Alvin Nelsen at the Baptist Church in York, Nebraska and to this union two children were born. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1987. She married Jim Tryon on July 27, 2002 at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson.
She was a member of the P.E.O. She liked to travel, spend time in her garden, golf, and visit with friends. Carma was especially known for the many lifelong friends she held dear. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and first husband Alvin Nelsen.
She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Heather Cox and husband Craig, and son Spencer Nelsen and wife Amy all of Nelson, Nebraska; step-son Jamie Tryon and family of Hastings, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Alexa and Sawyer Cox and Amber, Hannah and Remington Nelsen; two brothers John Ostrom of York, Nebraska and Rodney Ostrom of Thornton, Colorado; Rex, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with David Johnson officiating.
Music was congregational hymns "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", and "Keeper of the Stars" and "In the Garden" sung by Royce Schott with Carlita Price as the organist.
Pallbearers were Brenda Fleming, Sonya Munson, Christiana Wood, Heath Cram, Trent Ostrom, Jon Otteman, Johnny Booth and Shawnee Raymond. Honorary Pallbearers were Connie Porter, Patty Bergmen, Susan Emanuel, Evie Olson, Karen Hansen and Avis Shaw.
Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery-York at York, Nebraska.
