Christian Biography of Charlene Jean Korgan

Charlene Jean Korgan, the daughter of Elmer and Brigid (Maloney) Haines, was born on May 10, 1937, in Lexington, Nebraska. She entered her heavenly home on November 6, 2025, at Fencerock Court in Hickman, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 27 days.

Charlene grew up in Lexington, where she attended school and graduated from Lexington High School. After graduation, she married John Embree, and together they were blessed with five children. Charlene's greatest joy and calling in life was being a mother. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family, instilling in her children a strong work ethic and a deep sense of compassion for others.

In her 30s, Charlene pursued a lifelong dream of caring for others by attending nursing school, where she earned her LPN license. Her passion for helping those with both mental and physical challenges became her ministry. Charlene faithfully served as a nurse at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings for nearly 20 years, retiring only when her health no longer allowed her to continue.

Charlene was known by family and friends as a loving, generous, and faith-filled woman. Her gentle spirit and steadfast love reflected her deep trust in God. Whether through her work, her family, or her friendships, Charlene shared Christ's compassion with everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Brigid Haines, and her husband, John Embree.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Guy Embree of Nelson; David Embree of Wisconsin; Terry Embree of Trumbull; Chris (Scott) Stemper of Firth; and John Embree, II of Missouri; along with 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Richard Haines of Lexington; Shirley Haines of Lexington; Anita Morris of Omaha; Debra Scheckler of North Dakota; and William Haines of Lexington; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Charlene's life was a testimony of faith, service, and love. She has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
