Christian Biography of Clarence Eugene Sole
Clarence Eugene Sole, the son of Clarence and Alleen (Smith) Sole, was born on May 23, 1930 in Geneva, Nebraska. He passed away on February 26, 2017 at his home in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 9 months, 3 days.
Clarence was one of four children; he attended Brown country school east of Nelson. He was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. He enlisted into the United States Armed Forces on October 7, 1952 and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1954. While in the service he was injured in combat, and earned many service medals including the Purple Heart. He returned to Nelson where he was engaged in farming. On June 30, 1954, he was united in marriage to Beverly Eldeen Stichka at the Presbyterian Church in Nelson. This union was blessed with seven children.
Besides farming, Clarence enjoyed gardening, collecting coins, arrow heads and trains. He also in his spare time enjoyed putting puzzles together. He loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He was a member of the VFW and the Nelson American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Allieen; daughter, Diane Rose Sole; brothers, Allen David and Arthur Lloyd Sole; and one sister Marianne Rose Stineman.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Nelson, Nebraska; children, Barbara Robb and husband Dennis of Trenton, Missouri, Roberta Rowley and husband Walter "Bud" of Syracus, Nebraska, Doloris Warren and husband Gary and Carroll and wife Patty all of Nelson, Nebraska, Richard and wife Christy of Trenton, Missouri and Dwight and wife Debbie of Nelson, Nebraska; 20 grandchildren: Kent Otto and wife Kelsie, Tim Dilley and wife Cecilia, Katie Beaty and husband Ron, Danny Warren, Stephanie Jacobitz and husband Josh, Andy Sole, Kayla Sole, Chris Sole, Megan Sole, Mavrick Sole, Mallory Sole, Justin and wife Emily, Jessica Sole, Jordin Sole, Lori Keeler and husband Jeff, Steven Otto, David Otto and wife Kerri, Cody Byers, and Kayla, Kory and Kyle Golay; 21 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 am from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with Royce Schott and Bill Barker officiating.
Music was "Daddy's Hands" and "In the Garden" solos by Stephanie Thayer and "In the Arms of an Angel" recording by Sarah McLachlan with Carlita Price as the accompanist.
Visitation was held on Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
Pallbearers were members of the Nelson American Legion. Honorary Pallbearers were Ken Hamel, Dave Gebers, Steve Gebers, Tad Frahm, Bill Barker and David Barker.
Interment with Military Honors was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.
