Christian Biography of Clay E. Myers

Clayton Edward Myers, the son of Barnes and Elizabeth (Sinn) Myers, was born on October 9, 1936 on a farm in Rural Thayer County between Gilead and Hebron, Nebraska. He passed away on March 18, 2021 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 5 months, 9 days.

Clay attended Hebron Public Schools. He was inducted into the United States Navy serving during the Korean War from September of 1954 to October of 1957. Returning home, he received his Welding certificate from Milford Technical College. On April 21, 1963 he was united in marriage to Beverly Burkett at St. Mark's in Ruskin, Nebraska. Three children were born to this union.

Clay lived in Hebron, Nebraska and most of his life in Nelson. He worked in his black smith shop in Nelson for many years, and was a jack of all trade. He also worked for Moorman feeds, and Redi-Mix in Superior, Sutton and Edgar. He drove a truck for Don Wroughton and sold Chief Grain Bins.  He was a member of the American Legion in Nelson. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting guns, and was retired from the Volunteer Fire Department in Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly and an infant son.

Survivors include his daughter Jodi (John) McLaughlin of Hastings; and his son Darren (Dawn) Myers of Nelson; 3 grandchildren: Josh McLaughlin, Onja Myers and Keygan Myers; and great grandson Brandt McLaughlin; his sister Iola Nighsonger and brother Keith (Yvonne) Myers both of Modesto, California; other relatives and host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home in Nelson, Nebraska with Pastor Ethan Feistner officiating.

Music was "The Lord's Prayer" and "Going Home".

Visitation was held on March 22, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family present to greet friends.

Pallbearers were Tony Deepe, Travis Deepe, Trenton Deepe, Chad Buresh, Austin Buresh, Josh McLaughlin and Brandt McLaughlin. Honorary pallbearers were John McLaughlin, Jon Myers and Roger Schoenrock.

Interment with Military Honors was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the Nelson Fire and Rescue Squad or the Nelson Community Club.
