Christian Biography of Colleen Elaine Steier Utecht
Colleen Elaine Utecht, the daughter of Elvin and Marjorie Jean (Healey) Steier, was born on August 14, 1955 in Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on August 18, 2019 at the Bryan LGH Medical Center West at Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 64 years and 4 days.
Colleen was baptized and confirmed at the Union Church of Hardy in 1969. She graduated from Republic High School in Republic, Kansas with the class of 1973. She married David W. Utecht in October of 1981 and to this union two children were born. They later divorced. She then went on to graduate from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska, with a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration.
Colleen was currently employed at Dial Heating and Air Conditioning in Hastings, Nebraska. She enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers and yard, and caring for her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elvin and Jean and a sister Carla Glebe, brother-in-law Clarence Holloway, niece Carissa Poppe and step-son Mark Utecht.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey Utecht and wife Jennifer of Superior, Nebraska and her daughter Laura Herz and husband Aaron of Lawrence, Nebraska. Three grandchildren, Reese, Campbelle and Olive, step-son Matthew Utecht and family. She is also survived by her siblings, Cathy Holloway of Winfield, Kansas, Cammie Poppe and husband Greg of Hastings, Nebraska, Phil Steier of Hastings, Nebraska along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including her lifelong friend and neighbor Ann Sweet Higdon.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10:30 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Greg Poppe officiating.
Music was recording of "I Can Only Imagine," and solo "In The Garden," by Jan Thomas with Linda Zink as her accompanist.
Visitation was held on Thursday from 4 to 8 with family present from 5-7 to greet friends.
Pallbearers were Harold Sweet, Mark Hanson, Dave Healey, Bob Healey, Matt Utecht and Paul Thornton.
Interment was in the Hardy Cemetery at Hardy, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to go to the family for a memorial to be designated later.
