Connie Ann Hayes, daughter of Oscar and Edna (Moyer) Carpenter, was born on June 5, 1939, in Lebanon, Kansas. She passed away on October 25, 2026, at Brodstone Healthcare in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 20 days.

Connie attended grade school in Mankato, Kansas, then moving her eighth-grade year to Superior. She graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1957. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a 66-year member of First United Methodist Church in Superior.

On November 20, 1960, Connie was united in marriage to Calvin Hayes at First Methodist Church in Superior. She spent a couple of years living in El Paso, Texas, while Calvin served in the National Guard before making Superior their permanent home. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Troy and Todd.

Connie devoted herself to being a homemaker and raising her sons. For a short time, she worked at J.C. Penney, later assisted Calvin and the boys with their businesses, where she served as a bookkeeper. She took great pride in her family and enjoyed being involved in the lives of those she loved.

Connie was an active member of her community and participated in many organizations and activities, including the Pleasure Cruisers, Couples Card Club, Red Caps, Superior Elks Lodge, and the Methodist Women’s group. Connie also enjoyed helping with the church harvest festival and looked forward to participating in the annual SHS alumni banquets.

For 42 years, Connie and Calvin enjoyed wintering in Texas and Arizona, creating many cherished memories together.
