Christian Biography of Marlin "Dale" Burge

Marlin Dale Burge, the son of Oscar and Thora (Smith) Burge, was born on May 15, 1935 in Burr Oak, Kansas. He passed away on March 17, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 10 months, 2 days.

Dale was one of seven children; he attended school at Republic, Kansas. He was a 25 year member of the Webber United Methodist Church, Webber, Kansas; being baptized on April 2, 1988 by Rev. Elton Hunter.

He was united in marriage to Ruby Howe on July 16, 1957 at Concordia, Kansas and to this union three children were born. In his earlier days Dale lived in Wisconsin, South Dakota and Colorado, and the last 38 years he lived in the Webber and Superior community.

Dale was proud of his home in Webber, especially his shop. He would spend many hours sitting with his dogs watching traffic and loved when friends would stop by and chat. He was very dedicated to his sandblasting/painting business which he operated for 20 years.

He was a member of the Two-Wheel Motorcycle Club, and he and Ruby enjoyed square dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Melvin and Kenneth Burge, sister Wanda Gastaneau, sister-in-law Grace Burge and brother-in-law John Berry and grandson Kristopher Burge.

He is survived by his wife Ruby of Superior; son Rodney Burge and wife Susan of Littleton, Colorado; and daughters Rosalie Ehlers and husband Dalane and Kimberly Penry and husband John all of Superior, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Nathan and Alayna Ehlers, Jamie Hebert, Max Burge and Jackson Kuhlmann; four great grandchildren Grant and Wyatt Hebert, Jayden Ehlers and Kyson Ehlers McPherson; three brothers Dale Burge and wife Chris and Ronald Burge all of Missouri; and Dean Burge of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Webber United Methodist Church in Webber, Kansas with Pastor Roger Walls officiating.

Recorded music was "I Want to Stroll over Heaven with You" by Alan Jackson, "Love Me" by Colin Raye, with Lynette Bartley as the organist.

Visitation was held on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Pallbearers were Rich Howe, Wayne Howe, Mark Jurgena, Dalane Ehlers, John Penry, Nathan Ehlers, Max Burge, and Jackson Kuhlmann. Honorary Pallbearers were Jamie, Brian, Grant, Wyatt, Alayna, Jay, Jayden, and Kyson.

Interment was in the Webber Cemetery at Webber, Kansas.
