Christian Biography of Dannie Dey

Dannie Donald Dey, the son of Archie and Evelyn (Bushek) Dey, was born on August 24, 1942 in York, Nebraska. He passed away on August 7, 2014 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 11 months, 14 days.

Dannie graduated from the Gresham High School in Gresham, Nebraska with the class of 1960. On May 12, 1999 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Patten. Dannie lived in the communities of Gresham, Guide Rock, Red Cloud and Superior, Nebraska. He was retired from the Nebraska Public Power District after 43 and a half years of service with his last position as area manager of the Guide Rock area. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles and the Lions Club. He loved to do woodworking, making trucks and farm machinery. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Everyone will remember him for his homemade decorations in his yard during the holidays. He especially enjoyed dancing and drinking coffee with the "Group". He was a member of the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Evelyn, one son, Jeffrey J. Dey and a sister Jeanette Harmon.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Dey of Superior, Nebraska, daughter Holly Kelch and husband Mike of Exeter, Nebraska, step-son, Ron Pickel of Elm Creek, Nebraska, step-daughters, Brenda Stewart and husband Dennis of Beloit, Kansas and Kaylene Lockwood and husband Mark of England. 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Dale Dey and wife Kirsti of Kalispell, Montana and a sister Carol Ourada and husband Vern of York, Nebraska along with a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:30 am from the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Earl officiating.

Music was "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Heather Dahl as organist. Congregational hymn was "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers were Ryan Pickel, Adam Pickel, Joe Belfiore, Logan Dickey, Bruce Garner and Jerry Kelch. Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Dickey, Scott Pickel, Dennis Stewart, Joe Sullivan, Elmer Rempe, Clint Richardson, Dave Johnson and David Watters.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
