Christian Biography of Danny L. Kirk
Danny Lee Kirk, the son of Ralph and Inez (Stephens) Kirk, was born on September 14, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away on February 14, 2017 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 69 years and 5 months.
Danny attended Deshler Public School and graduated from Deshler High School. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Deshler. He was united in marriage to Ilene Myers on December 24, 1966 in the Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska. He enlisted into the United States Army right before his marriage on September 8, 1966, serving during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1969.
Throughout his lifetime, Danny lived in Deshler, Hardy, Superior, Guide Rock, Hastings, Kenesaw, David City, North Loup, and Sutton where he has resided for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Sutton American Legion, the Superior VFW and the NRA. He was employed as a Truck Driver, and he also did construction work.
Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, supervising the gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. In January of 2015, due to his health, he resided at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society in Hastings, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Inez; and one brother Ralph Kirk Jr. "Rowdy."
Survivors include his wife, Ilene of Sutton, Nebraska; daughters, DeAnna Kirk of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Angela Cunningham of Moodus, Connecticut, and Echo Kirk of Utrecht, Netherlands; 4 grandsons, Quinten Colwell and wife Kim of Hastings, Nebraska, Weslee Dixon of Superior, Nebraska, Zakary and Avan Cunningham of Moodus, Connecticut and 6 great grandchildren; and one brother, Rodney Kirk and wife Joan of Ozark, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Federated Methodist Church in Sutton, Nebraska with Pastor Mary Scott officiating.
Music was "Amazing Grace," solo by Michelle Schmer, recording of "Take My Hand Precious Lord," and congregational hymn "In The Garden," with Gwenda Mau as the accompanist.
Visitation was held on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time.
Pallbearers were Jack Softley, Allen Munson, Galyn Quiring, Charlie Johnson, Randy George, and Dan Beahm. Honorary Pallbearers were Quinten Colwell, Weslee Dixon, Zakary Cunningham, and Avan Cunningham.
Interment with Full Military Honors was held at 3:00 pm in the Rosemound Cemetery at Hardy, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to go to the family.
