David "Tree" Hess

David Glenn Hess, the son of Glenn and Doris (Roming) Hess, was born on February 22, 1954 at Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on July 31, 2017 at CHI Health at Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 63 years.

David attended Superior Public Schools and was a member of Living Faith Fellowship Church in Superior.  He married Vicki Tyler in 1978 at Nelson and this union 2 children were born, and he inherited by previous marriage, a daughter, whom Dave considered his own. They later divorced.

Those who were privileged to know Tree in any capacity, would comment how much they enjoyed hearing his trucking stories, his jokes, and complimented his sense of humor and how fun and ornery he was. David acquired the nickname "Tree" during his football career in Jr. High and high school. Those who ran into him on the field mentioned there was no give, he was as strong as a tree, and he didn't budge with hard impact. Tree was a very strong and perhaps intimidating man on the outside, but family and friends describe David as a "piece of candy, hard on the outside, but soft on the inside." David had a soft and generous heart and would do anything for anyone if he could help.

Tree enjoyed spending time with family and friends; especially with his kids out fishing. David's pride and joy were his kids and grandkids. Tree enjoyed conversing and telling stories, getting to know people, and spent many hours on the phone keeping up with family, and friends. Dave was well respected and known as a man full of wisdom. Tree was a hard worker and began working at the age of 14, doing various farm jobs, and ended up Driving Truck for a living, until he was forced to retire for health-related reasons; which gave him the opportunity to spend more time with his family.

Dave was a man of integrity and a man of character. He always kept his word and always stood up for what was right.  Dave's walk with God is what defined him; he was a great representative of Christ.  He taught his children to follow Jesus, and he did it by example.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Carol Hess.

He is survived by his children Christy Corman and husband Craig of Nelson, Nebraska; Ezra Hess and finance Jio Angulo of Kearney, Nebraska; and Nancy Gonzales and husband Royce of Nelson, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Lexi Hess, Danielle Warneking, Leslie Corman and Levi Corman; brothers Duane of Superior, Nebraska; Darel of Attica, Kansas and Brian of Vista, California; cousins, Lori Clyde and Pat Jablkowski; other relatives and a host of friends.
