Christian Biography of Delmar E. Shrontz
Delmar Eugene Shrontz, the son of Kenneth and C Berniece (McKee) Shrontz, was born on December 11, 1940 in Asherville, Kansas. He passed away on March 11, 2019 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 78 years and 3 months
Delmar was baptized and confirmed in 1957 at the Methodist Church in Superior. He attended Beaverville grade school and graduated from Superior High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in November of 1963 and was discharged in November of 1965, serving during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Marlene Jordan, adopting her 2 daughters, Peggy and Lori, they later divorced. He married Mary Hobelman on January 2, 1998 at Superior, they later divorced.
Delmar was engaged in farming for 27 years and managed the Abdal Elevator for 8 years. Delmar loved his cattle. He would haul cattle for many farmers and ranchers all over the area. He enjoyed having fun with the grandkids and he never met a stranger. He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge #121 and the Eagles Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Berniece
Survivors include his daughters Peggy (Mark) Fletcher of Haughton, Louisiana; and Lori Shrontz Richecky of Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings Mary (Delane) Ahrens of Bossier City, Louisiana; Walter (Margaret) Shrontz of Roswell, Georgia, Harry (Darlene) Shrontz of Vacaville, California, Geraldine (Edwin) Wohler of Greenville, Wisconsin, Delores (David) Stump of Blue Rapids, Kansas and Carl (Patsy) Shrontz of Hanover, Kansas along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Memorial services were held on Friday, March 15 th , 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with full military honors following and Pastor David Johnson officiating.
Music was "On Eagle's Wings," "The Touch Of The Masters Hand" and "How Great Thou Art," Stephanie Thayer as the soloist and accompanied by Teresa Christensen.
Book signing was held on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
Honorary Pallbearers were Allan Richecky, Carl Shrontz Jr., Logan Fletcher, Nolan Fletcher, Jordan Fletcher, Brian Grueber, Bruce Jacobitz, Jim Beard and Bill Roe.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Green Mound Cemetery at Asherville, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to go to the Grace Evangelical Free Church of Superior.
