Christian Biography of Denelda "Dee" Ann Edwards
Denelda Ann Edwards, the daughter of Albert and Irene (Bostelman) Hobelman, was born on July 5, 1933 in Byron, Nebraska. She passed away on March 11, 2017 at the Fairview Manor at Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 83 years.
Dee attended school in Byron and Superior and graduated from Superior High School in 1951. She was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church being baptized on August 6, 1933 by Rev. F. Shardt and confirmed by Rev. V. Jordening on June 1, 1947. On June 10, 1951 she was united in marriage to Paul Richard Edwards at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska and to this union was born four children.
Dee was a member of the Women's Christian Union, the Hardy Legion Auxiliary, and several bowling and golf leagues. She was a great cook, and for 10 years she and Paul owned and operated the Do Drop In in Hardy. She was also an excellent seamstress, sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren (including dresses for her granddaughter's entire wedding party and a jean quilt for each grandchild). She also did alterations at Carmen's and Mason's, which were women's clothing stores in Superior. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and attending her family's sporting events and activities. She was always available to help out when needed, especially with the grandkids.
In her lifetime she lived in the communities of Byron, Superior, Deshler, Hardy and Auburn before moving to York and later to the Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Emery and Kenneth Hobelman and her sister Eunice Pittack and a great grandson Maurice Jered Rediger.
She is survived by her husband Paul of York, Nebraska, children, Kathryn Chatelain and husband David of Hemingford, Nebraska, Connie Moody and husband Joseph of Auburn, Nebraska, Steven Edwards and wife Denise of Geneva, Nebraska and Kim Gebers and husband Thomas of York, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Myranda (Chatelain) Rediger and husband Jered, Jacob Chatelain, Kendall (Moody) Sunneberg and husband Jon, Douglass Moody and wife Jackelyn, Eric Moody and wife Morgan, Amber (Edwards) Taylor and husband Daniel, Seth Gebers and fiancé Morgan Wrich, Brette Gebers and Reese Gebers; eight great-grandchildren and one brother Gene Hobelman of Lincoln, Nebraska; along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.
Music solo by Kelsey Blevins "Because You Loved Me," recording "You Raise Me Up," and congregational hymn "The Lord's Prayer," with Carlita Price as the accompanist.
Visitation was held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with family present from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Douglass Moody, Eric Moody, Jacob Chatelain, Seth Gebers, Reese Gebers and Brandt Sunneberg. Honorary Pallbearers were Myranda Chatelain, Kendall Sunneberg, Amber Taylor, Brette Gebers, Blaike Sunneberg and Britten Sunneberg.
Interment was in the Hardy Cemetery at Hardy, Nebraska.
A memorial has been established and may go in care of the family.
