Dennis Lee Smith, age 60, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on March 19, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Dennis was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and gifted sense of humor, filling every room he entered with light and laughter.
Born on June 12, 1965, in Concordia, KS, to Norman and Darlene (Comeau) Smith. Dennis graduated from Superior High School and went on to further his education at Beloit Vo-Tech in Beloit, Kansas. His path eventually led him to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he married his best friend, Lisa (Eitzmann) Smith, on October 6, 1990. Together, they built a loving family raising two beautiful daughters, who admired him dearly.

He dedicated over 35 years of his life as a construction foreman with Krueger Development, where his strong work ethic, leadership, and skillful hands left a lasting mark on every project he touched. He took great pride in his work, especially the three homes he lovingly crafted for his own family and the many remodeling projects he completed for relatives and friends. Each project carried a piece of him, a quiet testament to the care and dedication he brought to everything he did.

Outside of work, Dennis found joy in life's simple, meaningful moments. He loved working with his hands—whether he was fixing something or building something entirely new. He cherished family vacations and game nights at home, where laughter filled the room and unforgettable memories were made—especially when the Snapchat filters came out. In his free time, he loved cheering on the Huskers and Chiefs, and found real joy in perfecting new ways to use the BBQ smoker.

Above all, Dennis was a natural teacher. Whether lending a hand or sharing advice, he offered his time and heart without hesitation, always eager to pass his knowledge on to others. His kind spirit and steady support brought comfort and strength, and his presence will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Smith, daughters Brooklyn (Tyler) Knapp of Omaha and Kelsey Smith of Asheville, NC; Siblings Delaine Birchard of Lincoln, Delmar Smith of Lincoln, Dedra (Brad) Peterson of Courtland, KS, Darren Smith of Cat Spring, TX; siblings-in-law LaRae (Steve) Hill of Lincoln, Dave (Cindy) Jorgensen of Lincoln, RaJean (John) Morrison of Melbourn, FL; mother-in-law Norma Eitzmann of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Darlene Smith; father-in-law Eldon Eitzmann; brother-in-law Ron Birchard; and sister-in-law Lorna Jorgensen.
