Christian Biography of Don Edward Delka

Don Edward Delka, the son of Harold and Olive (Smith) Delka, was born on September 25, 1937 in Bethesda, Maryland. He went to his heavenly home on October 26, 2018 surround by family at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 1 day.

Don was the second of eleven children. He was baptized and confirmed at the Union Church in Hardy by the Pastor Peter Tracono. Don attended country school and Superior High School. It was there that he met the love of his life. He was united in marriage to Alice Etter on October 31, 1954. This union was blessed with five children of their own and a foster son. Don owned and operated Delka's Garage & Construction in Hardy for more than 27 years before retiring.

He was a past member of the Village Board of Hardy, the Hardy School Board, Hardy Volunteer Fire Department, Advisor of the Vocational Tech School in Beloit Kansas, and Land Improvement Contractors Association.

Throughout his lifetime, Don lived in the communities of Superior, Fremont, Ashland, Seward, West Point, Omaha, Gothenburg, Council Bluffs, and Bostwick Nebraska. Mobile and Guntersville, Alabama. Chamberlain, South Dakota. Hayes, Salina, and Kanorado, Kansas.  Prosper, Rockwall, Ozona, Kent, Henrietta, and Southlake, Texas. Making their final move and ending in Hardy, Nebraska in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Olive Delka; his brother Billie Delka and sister-in-law Diane Delka.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Delka; sons Lyle and wife Paulette of Collinsville, Texas; Kim and wife Julie of Superior, Nebraska; Michael and wife Mary of Red Cloud, Nebraska; Daughters Dixie Bargen and husband Steven of Superior, Nebraska; Cindy Rhoads and Husband Randall of Superior, Nebraska and Foster son Ivan Troxel and wife Carol of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are Adam Delka and Partner Luis Romero of Houston, Texas; Levi Delka and wife Krissa and son Sawyer of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kacie Stogdill and husband J. Grant and daughters Nolyn and Camryn of Sanger, Texas; Katrina Bargen of Lincoln, Nebraska; Mickayla Ochsner and husband Michael and children Addison, Logan and Colton of Muscatine, Iowa; Benjamin and wife Casey Bargen and children Bayln, Freya and Brittyn of Superior, Nebraska; Kellie Delka of Collinsville, Texas, Kristina Wilcox and husband Zackary and son Zander of Fremont, NE; Marcella Anthony and husband Michael of Dothan, Alabama, Kaila Arwine and husband Trevor and son Quade of Tioga, Texas, Dakota Don Delka of Red Cloud, Nebraska. Foster Grandchildren Kellie Troxel, Tyler Troxel both of Lincoln, Nebraska and Andrea Troxel of Kearney, Nebraska.

Siblings Neil (Audyne) Delka of Roanoke, Texas; Ted (Myrtie)Delka of Guide Rock, Nebraska; Frank (Connie) Delka of Beloit, Kansas; Raymond (Leola) Delka of Lincoln, Nebraska; Dale Delka of Superior, Nebraska; R. Elaine Delka of Bostwick, Nebraska; Betty (Dale) Ehlers of Marion, Kansas; Oris (JoAnn) Delka of Nashville, Tennessee, and Doris Epke of Schoenchen, Kansas; sister-in-law Arlene Delka of Guide Rock, Nebraska; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor David Johnson officiating.

Music was Alan Jackson recording of "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You."

Book signing visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 with the family present.

Bearers were his grandchildren Adam Delka, Levi Delka, Kacie Stogdill, Katrina Bargen, Mickayla Ochsner, Benjamin Bargen, Kellie Delka, Kristina Wilcox, Marcella Anthony, Kaila Arwine, and Dakota Delka.

Private Family inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials in care of the family for a later designation.
