Christian Biography of Donald Wray Wroughton

Donald Wray Wroughton, the son of Wayne and Florence (Theiman) Wroughton, was born on February 4, 1933 in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on December 17, 2019 at his home in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 10 months, 13 days.

Don was a Nelson High School graduate. After graduating, Don moved to Denver, Colorado working for years at Denver Brick and Pipe until he became Vice President of the company. He moved to Nebraska and changed to driving a truck for several years, and starting his own Wroughton Trucking Company and Concrete Business.

Don had 2 children Michael and Patricia from a previous marriage. He was united in marriage to Lois Diane Fuller on August 5, 1966, this union was blessed with a son Scott.

Don served as mayor of Nelson and ran a youth center for many years. He worked as dispatcher for Dahlstein Trucking until he retired. He also helped his wife raise dogs.

For entertainment he liked his casinos, and fishing. The most he enjoyed was his grand kids and new great grandson. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #121.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Florence; his son Scott on April 2, 2017; and his brother Richard.

Survivors include his wife Lois of Nelson; his son Michael (Karen) Wroughton of Peoria, Arizona; and daughter Patricia Wroughton of Colorado; and daughter-in-law DeAnne Wroughton; three grandchildren Jacob (Heather) Wroughton of Nelson; Blake Wroughton of Nelson; and Justin Streigel of Colorado; great grandson Baker Wroughton; sister-in-law Lorraine Wroughton of Superior, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.

It was Don's wish to donate his body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
