Christian Biography of Donna Gratopp

Donna Mae Gratopp, the daughter of Charley and Jenne (Dutton) Higer, was born in Jewell County, Kansas on October 14, 1926 near Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on October 27, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, and 13 days.

Donna was one of six children. She was baptized in her early teens at the Olive Hill Church, south of Superior. She attended school in Superior and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1944.

On March 5, 1946 she was united in marriage to William L Gratopp at her Aunt's home in Mankato, Kansas and to this union three children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son William C.; brothers George and Dale and sisters Betty Mae Graham and Norma Dunn.

She is survived by her husband Bill of 67 years; daughters Linda D. Hale and husband Robert of Port Matilda, Pennsylvania; and Gale A. Rathbun and husband Tom of Webber, Kansas; daughter-in-law Doris Gratopp of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Gina Maas and husband Eric of Louisville, Nebraska; Ryan Gratopp and wife Traci of Omaha, Nebraska; Emily Moore and husband Brian of Omaha, Nebraska; Che' Hale and wife Debra of Baltimore, Maryland; Heidi Rathbun of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Ricci Rathbun-Nisley and husband Travis of Elkhorn, Nebraska; thirteen great-grandchildren and sister Charlene Dunn and husband Merlin of Casper, Wyoming; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 2:30 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", with Carlita Price as Organist and Stephanie Thayer as Soloist.

Visitation was held on October 29, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday 9:00 AM until the services.

Pallbearers were Eric Maas, Ryan Gratopp, Brian Moore, Travis Nisley, Justin Thompson, and Michael Pearce. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill Hill, Fred Alexander, Jim Bauer, Richard Bowes and Ronald Higer.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
