Christian Biography of Doris Thornberry

Doris Deline Thornberry, the daughter of Herbert and Lola (Kinnison) Peters, was born on March 19, 1940 in Wheatland, Wyoming. She passed away on February 3, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 15 days.

Doris as a young girl she moved with her family to Angus, where she attended school and completed her high school years at Nelson High School. She was baptized at the Little Blue River in Angus and was a member of the Angus Church of Christ.

On May 23, 1958 she was united in marriage to Larry Thornberry in Nelson. This union was blessed with two children.

While raising her family, Doris was employed with the Nuckolls County in the clerk's office for 32 years. Doris enjoyed the outdoors and camping at the lake with her family and friends, and also going to the casinos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lola, her son Randi, son-in-law John Ensign, her brother Jim and his wife Shirley Peters and brother and sister in law Marvin and Elaine Thayer and in laws Willis "Bill" and Neva Thornberry.

Survivors include her husband Larry and daughter Vicki Ensign both of Nelson; grandchildren Jessi (Nathan) Hoeft of Hastings, Kelly (William) Karr of Blue Hill and Gariv Thornberry of Norton, Kansas; great grandsons Caleb and Jacob Karr; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Nelson City Cemetery in Nelson, Nebraska with Royce Schott officiating.
