Christian Biography of Dorothea Evelyn (Fitzgerald) Huffman

Dorothea Evelyn Huffman, the daughter of James Kit and Lily Pearl (Nichols) Fitzgerald, was born on August of 1922 in Republic County, Kansas. She passed away on February 17, 2017 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 94 years and 5 months .

Evelyn attended school in Hardy graduating from Hardy High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Superior since 1950 when she was baptized. On June 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Fredrick Huffman in Superior, and this union was blessed with two daughters. Evelyn worked as a legal secretary while caring for her family.

They both liked to fish and travel, spending a few years camping and then RV'ing.  They also spent winters in Harlingen, TX prior to her health problems. Fred was her care giver for many years, until they both entered the Good Samaritan Society in Superior.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred on March 9, 2016; and siblings, James Fitzgerald, Donald Fitzgerald, Flora Simmons, and Betty Olsen.

She is survived by her daughters Dee A. Baird and husband Galen J. of Green Valley, Arizona and Lin K. Wichman and husband Larry of Lincoln, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren, 11great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, Nebraska with Missie Wilt officiating.

Visitation was held on February 21, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
