Christian Biography of Earl W. Ferguson

Earl Wendell Ferguson, the son of Bert Harper Ferguson and Flora Eliza Boettner Ferguson was born on November 10, 1933 at Clarks, Nebraska. Earl passed away at his residence in Nelson, Nebraska on March 19, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was baptized at Pierce Chapel on September 9, 1934 by Rev. E.W. Price. He attended Pleasant Hill Country School and Clarks High School. He served in the United States Army from December 7, 1953 until September 6, 1955.

Earl was united in marriage to Selma Kunze on March 11, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer, Nebraska. On March 11 th 2018, Earl and Selma celebrated 62 years of marriage. Earl was always active in the church as well as the Masonic Lodge in both Clarks and Nelson where he held all offices in the Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. Earl was a member of the Nelson American Legion and the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. He loved farming and his livestock; but above all, he loved and was so proud of his children and grand-children.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Selma; son, Scott Alan Ferguson and daughter, Patricia (James) Roberts; grandchildren, Christopher Ferguson; Jessica (Marcus)Jones; Morgan (Nathaniel)Wells; Shelby (Charles) Weber; Ryan Roberts; Samantha Roberts; Shayla Ferguson and Jacob Roberts; great-grandchildren, Kayden; Colton; A.J.; Zeppelyn; Sophia; James; Zoiey; Phoenyx and Zoie; brothers and sisters in law; Willard (Carla) Kunze of Palmer, NE; Margaret Hanson of Brayton, IA; Lavon (Chris) Wunderlich of Gilbert, AZ; and Jim Spitz of Columbus, NE; in addition to other relatives and special friends. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Gideon; brother, Harold Ferguson and his wife Dorothy; brother, Ralph Ferguson and his wife Julia; sister, Edith Zachery and her husband Marion; brother, Carl Ferguson and his wife Annie; brother, Glen Ferguson and his wife Rosemary; sister, Mary Dittmer and her husband Ted; brother and sister in law, Warren and Pat Kunze; sister in law, Liana Spitz; brother in law, Daryl Kunze and brother in law, Ron Hanson.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with Pastor Ivan and Pastor Joyce Dean officiating.

Music was "Grandpa", "Old Rugged Cross", "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", with Carlita Price as the organist.

Visitation was held on March 22, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Pallbearers were Christopher Ferguson, Jessica Jones, Morgan Wells, Shelby Weber, Ryan Roberts, Samantha Roberts, Shayla Ferguson, and Jacob Roberts.

Interment with military honors was in the Pierce Chapel - Clarks, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family.
