Christian Biography of Edgar Tietjen

Edgar Arnold Tietjen, the son of John and Leona (Hoops) Tietjen was born on April 20, 1933 at Chester, Nebraska. He went to his heavenly home on November 12, 2020 at the Byran LGH East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 6 Months and 23 days.

On June 30, 1953 Edgar was inducted into the United States Army at Omaha, Nebraska. He was honorably discharged on August 21, 1953 at Fort Riley, Kansas. On November 24, 1957 he was united in marriage to Beulah Hoyer at the rural Bethany Lutheran Church at Ruskin, Nebraska and to this union was born three children. He farmed and milked dairy cows at the Hardy, Nebraska Tietjen Farm most of his life. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Hardy. Edgar loved God, his church and his family. He worked hard and lived his life as an example of the God he served. He had an amazing ability to love each person in a very special way, meeting them right where they were. He was a good friend and grandpa to many and was always ready to take mama for a Sunday drive.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Frederick Tietjen, and brother in law Marvin Schlueter.

He is survived by his wife Beulah of rural Hardy, Nebraska. Three children, Glinda Stafford of Clay Center, Kansas, Dave Tietjen of Superior, Nebraska and June Peterson and husband Kevin of Glasco, Kansas. Nine grandchildren, Diane Littrell, Jonah Stafford, Cassie and Anthony Buckner, Kevin Stafford, Dalen and Darcie Tietjen, Kendra Tietjen, Lance Heller, Elijah Heller and Anna Peterson. 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his five sisters along with a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Private family services were held at Tietjen family farm and graveside services were held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 2:30 pm from the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska with Pastor Breen Marie Sipes officiating.

Pallbearers were Dave Tietjen, Jonah Stafford, Kevin Stafford, Dalen Teitjen, Lance Heller and Elijah Heller.

Music was provided by Ivan Miller on the violin.

Military honors were provided by Jonah Stafford and Anna Peterson presenting the flag. Beauford and Leroy Hoyer as Firing Guard, Kevin Peterson as color guard and Ivan Miller playing taps. Glinda Stafford gave the last Poppy Presentation.

Interment was at Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin, Nebraska. Edgar's last ride to his final place of rest, was with his casket being pulled on a trailer behind his favorite tractor.

Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
