Christian Biography of Elaine Tyree

Elaine Margaret Tyree, the daughter of Arthur and Peggy (Rehschuh) Holman, was born on January 31, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away on December 4, 2014 at the Medicalodge of Clay Center at Clay Center, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 10 months, 4 days.

She graduated from Benson High School in Omaha in 1942 and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She also worked at Scoular-Bishop Grain Company as secretary to Robert Scoular, President of Scoular-Bishop.

On August 9, 1945, Elaine was united in marriage to John William Tyree in Omaha at Kountze Memorial Church where she had also been baptized and confirmed.

To this union were born three children, Collette Elaine, Thomas William, and Janis Jill.

While her children were growing up she was active as a Girl Scout Leader, Brownie Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Leader, and Job's Daughter Leader. At this time, she also made custom drapes and slipcovers. She worked as an insurance agent and secretary at Superior Insurance Agency for 30 years. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Olive Chapter #3, Order of Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband John on September 11, 1994; and her brother Arthur Holman.

Her survivors are Collette and Ken Teson of Florrisant, Missouri; Tom and Lancey Tyree of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Jill and Dave Scripter of Clay Center, Kansas; five grandchildren, Erin Tyree, Nicole and William Coleman, Justin Tyree and Celia Reid, Daniel and Jasmine Scripter and Thomas Scripter and Sydnie Bryant; Great grandchildren, William Coleman III, Jonathan Colemen, Lillian Tyree; sister-in-law, Faye Holman of Tucson, Arizona and special friend Charles Losey of Clay Center, Kansas ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was "In the Garden" and "In the Garden of Tomorrow" with Carlita Price as organist.

Visitation was held on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers were Joe Morris, Scott Morris, Gary Miller, Jim Fenimore, Mark Mooberry, and Steve Scripter. Honorary bearers were Owen Christensen, Justin Tyree, Daniel Scripter, and Thomas Scripter.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to Medicalodge of Clay Center, Kansas or the Parkinson's Foundation.
