Christian Biography of Elizabeth Kaldahl
Elizabeth Kaldahl, the daughter of Chris and Tora (Goldbeck) Laursen, was born on April 12, 1932 in Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on August 9, 2026 at her home near Hardy, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months, 28 days.
Liz grew up on the farm near Ruskin and was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Ruskin and was a 40 plus year member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hardy, where she was a church council member, Sunday School and VBS teacher. She was a Ruskin High School graduate and after raising her children she went back to school to earn her Registered Nursing degree and was in the nursing field for 25 plus years. On July 23, 1950 she was united in marriage to Vernon Kaldahl at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Ruskin. This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons. Together they made their home near Hardy where they raised their family.
Liz was active in Girl and Boy Scouts where both of her sons and seven of her grandsons and great-grandsons earned their Eagle Scout awards. She enjoyed taking care of her flower garden, especially zinnias. Vernon and Liz loved to travel and meet new people. Together they enjoyed their bike rides along with participating in BRAN. Liz took up quilting after she became an empty nester and has made many quilts for her family and friends to cherish.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chris and Tora; husband, Vernon on December 19, 2018; brother Harold and his wife Barb Laursen, son-in-law Joe A. Miller and grandson Jeff Miller.
Survivors include her children Joyce (Jess) Graves of Ely, Iowa; Janet Miller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; John (Mary) Kaldahl of Hardy, and Bruce (Susan) Kaldahl of Kansas City, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
