Christian Biography of Elmer D. Druba

Elmer Dean Druba, the eighth child of John and Pearl (Hedges) Druba, was born on February 21, 1931 in Stockham, Nebraska. He passed away on May 18, 2018 at his residence at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 2 months, 27 days.

Elmer was one of 10 children. He grew up near Stockham and attended school thru the 8 th grade when he was needed to help on the farm. In 1947, his father passed away and Elmer went to live with his sister. He worked for a farmer until 1952, when he was drafted in the United States Army. He served two years during the Korean conflict. He met Helen Arent in 1951 and they were married on May 22, 1954 at Geneva, Nebraska. They moved to Superior in June of 1954, where he bought the garbage route there. In 1955 their first son Johnnie was born. July of 1956 their second son Roger was born. In 1960 their third son Randy was born.

When Elmer first started hauling garbage he worked for area farmers, tended bar, hauled freight, and iced refrigerator cars for the railroad, to supplement his income, he later hauled garbage for the creamery. He also raised pigs and calves. Elmer retired in 1987 when his son John took over the business.

Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also did a lot of gardening. He raised many flowers and transplanted a lot of trees. That is how he used up his time after he retired. He had farming in his heart and he always wanted to be a 'Farmer." He also enjoyed vacations and traveling and was a lifelong member of the VFW. He will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers Royal, Elton, Jack, Marion, Lee, and Harold and 3 sisters Marie Hoffman, Inez Hosier, and Thelma Druba.

He leaves behind his wife Helen of Superior, sons John (Sheryl) of Superior, Nebraska, Roger (Carolyn) of Falls City, Nebraska, and Randy of Bayport, Long Island New York; 8 grandchildren Melissa (Tim) Roberts, Tiffany Druba, T.J. (Keshia) Druba, Stephanie (Cletus) Corman, Craig (Francisca) Barrett, Jeff (Lindsey) Druba, Brett (Liz) Druba, Sarah (Scott Sizenbach) Virus; 28 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was recordings of "Amazing Grace," and "Old Rugged Cross."

Visitation was held on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family present from 4-6.

Pallbearers were T.J. Druba, Jeff Druba, Brett Druba, Ethan Roberts, Caden Roberts, Wade Scripter, Craig Barrett and Hunter Healey. Honorary Pallbearers were Austin Roberts, Logan Roberts, Jonathon Druba, Sammy Druba, Lane Druba, J.T. Druba, Easton Druba, Canon Corman, Bryson Virus, Ty Barrett, Trey Druba, Bailey Virus, Jordyn Virus, Aly Virus, Grace Sizenbach, Lily Sizenbach, Cashlie Corman, Joie Roberts, Kasey Druba, Avery Druba, Dakota Barrett, Ariana Durgan, Emily DeFrancisco, Michele DeFrancisco, Jimmy (Blanca) DeFrancisco, Leon DeFrancisco and Levi DeFrancisco.

Interment with Military Honors was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
