Elsie M. Ruhga 93, of Grand Island passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home with a prayer service to follow. Pastor Mark Oberbeck will officiate.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska.

Elsie was born on May 19, 1925 in rural Deweese, daughter of Frank and Mary (Petr) Drudik.

Elsie grew up in rural Deweese and graduated from Lawrence High School. She continued her education and earned her teaching certificate from Kearney College. Elsie taught in country schools in rural Nuckolls County until she was married.

On December 4, 1951 she was united in marriage to Marvin Ruhga.  The couple made their home on the family farm.

Elsie was a devoted and loving mother. She was active in many of her children's activities. She continued to teach and for many years she was a Sunday School Teacher and volunteered for Girl Scouts.  She loved to read into the early morning hours and kept her mind sharp with word searches. Elsie will be remembered for her quick wit and baking skills.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Wally) Veburg of Hordville and Sue (Mike) Hagmann of Grand Island; grandchildren, Matthew Veburg and Alison Veburg; step granddaughter, Cassie Hagmann; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, son, Richard "Dick" Ruhga, sister, Frances Drudik and two infant brothers.

Memorials are suggested to Bickford Cottage.
