Christian Biography of Evelyn J. Leece

Evelyn Janice Leece, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Osborne) Ross, was born on August 2, 1920 near Montrose, Kansas. She passed away on April 11, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society at the age of 92 years, 8 months, 9 days.

Evelyn was a graduate of Lovewell Kansas High School and attended the Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina. In January of 1943 she was united in marriage to Bernard Connell and to this union was born one son Ben. Bernard preceded her in death on June 13, 1983. She was united in marriage to Quentin Leece on November 7, 1987. Quentin preceded her in death on October 1, 2005.

Evelyn lived in the communities of Lovewell, Salina and Wichita, Kansas and Superior, Nebraska. She was a member of the Lovewell Library Club and enjoyed playing cards, making ceramics and crafts and traveling on many trips across the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard and husband Quentin and one brother Marvin Ross.

She is survived by her son Ben Connell (Sue) of Colleyville, Texas, step-children, Vicki Weber of Superior, Nebraska, Richard Leece of Salina, Kansas, Linda Ayers (Bruce) of Courtland, Kansas, Junior Leece (Patty) of Topeka, Kansas, Janene Bagley (Richard) of Superior, Nebraska and Rick Leece of Salina, Kansas. Two grandchildren, Jennifer McGee (Rick) of San Angelo, Texas and Lora Connell (Ken) of Aurora, Colorado. Three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Allison and Josh Martin all of San Angelo, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Arma Jean Whitney of Superior, Nebraska, sister-in-laws, Joan Ross of Webber, Kansas, Helen Connell of Wichita, Kansas and Mary Jane Ward of Newton, Kansas along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Missie Wilt officiating.

Music was "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" with Marsha Cline as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM .

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Ross, John Ross, Tim Ross, Charles Whitney, James Whitney, Justin Thompson and Mike Thompson.

Interment was held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 1:30 PM in the Maize Park Cemetery at Maize, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to go to the Superior Good Samaritan Society.
