Christian Biography of Frank Jones


Frank Leslie Jones, the son of Waldine and Doris (Leslie) Jones, was born on November 12, 1951 in Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on March 1, 2014 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 62 years, 3 months, 17 days.

Frank attended the Nora school and graduated from Nelson High School. On April 7, 1972 he was united in marriage to Sandy Wehrman and this union was blessed with two daughters, Angela and Carie.

Frank lived his entire life near Nora, Nebraska. During high school he participated in football, track and rodeo, and continued to rodeo a short time after graduation. He and his brother Bud formed the Jones Bros. Rodeo Company in Nora in 1967. He team roped and competed in the first state team penning held in the state. He shared his love of livestock with his daughters while they grew up, helping them during their years in 4-H and FFA. He and his father ran the sale barns in Superior, Mankato and Red Cloud at different times throughout their careers. He had a love of cattle and traveled as far as Minnesota, Oklahoma and Missouri to purchase cattle at auctions.

He was preceded in death by his father Dean and a brother P.D. Jones.

He is survived by his wife Sandy Jones of Nora, Nebraska; his mother Doris Jones of Superior, Nebraska; daughters, Angela Gardner and husband B.J. of Nora, Nebraska and Carie Meyers and husband Sam of Mankato, Kansas. Five grandchildren, Ella and Mia Gardner and Eve, Grant and Nathaniel Meyers. He is also survived by a brother, Craig Jones and wife Peggy of Elizabethton, Tennessee, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside memorial services were held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Nora Cemetery south of Nora, Nebraska with Fred Meyers officiating.

Music was a recording of "The Highwayman" and "There You'll Be" and "I Believe" with Stephanie Thayer as soloist.

A book signing was held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Lynch, Taylor Lynch, B.J. Gardner, Sam Meyers, Nathan Buhr, and Frank's dog Paris.

Inurnment was in the Nora Cemetery at Nora, Nebraska.
