Christian Biography of Gail Lynn Gruwell

Gail Lynn Gruwell, the daughter of Donald and Barbara (Zematis) Gruwell, was born on November 26, 1966 in Norton, Kansas. She passed away on June 7, 2017 at her home at Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 50 years, 6 months, 12 days.

Gail grew up in Superior and received her formal education attending the Superior Elementary schools, graduating from Superior High School with the class of 1986. Lynn was very athletic in her high school years, which earned her basketball scholarship to Hastings Central Community College.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was baptized by Pastor Jeff Kimberly and also attended church at Orchard Park Assisted Living.

Gail was employed at numerous jobs including the Good Samaritan Society, Burger King, and Ingersoll Rand, all in Hastings, Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln, and the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Lynn was a Pink Lady volunteer while in High School.

In her lifetime Gail lived in Long Island, and Glen Elder, Kansas; Valley, Nebraska; Canton, South Dakota;  Superior, Hastings, and Lincoln, Nebraska. The last four years, Lynn resided at the Orchard Park Assisted Living Facility in Lincoln. She really loved it there; it felt like home to her. She loved the residents and staff, and enjoyed the activities which included playing cards, bingo, crafts, gardening, shopping and movies. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly, enjoyed teasing, joking and watching Disney Movies with them.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her father Don.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara of Superior; and siblings Ron also of Superior, Nebraska, Rick and wife Mary Jo of Glen Elder, Kansas, Leanna Warner and husband Randy of Aurora, Nebraska, Lesa Lucke and husband Larry of Ceresco, Nebraska; 4 nieces, 1 nephew; and 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.


Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Jeff Kimberly officiating.

Music was "Because He Lives," and "Amazing Grace-My Chains are Gone," music by Carl Warner.

Visitation was held on Saturday from 12:00 until services.

Pallbearers were Andy Gruwell, Tyron Gruwell, Klinton Miller, Travis Stevens, Rick Andreasen, and Steve Meyer. Honorary Pallbearers were Emma Miller, Anna Miller, Easton Gruwell, Mazie Gruwell, Trenton Stevens and Tatum Stevens.

Interment was at 5:00 PM in the Naponee Cemetery at Naponee, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to the Nazarene Church in Superior.
