Christian Biography of Gary A. Ward
Gary Allen Ward, the son of Maurice and Merna (Boddye) Ward, was born on September 20, 1938 in Fairbury, Nebraska. He passed on April 21, 2021 in Houston, Texas at the age of 82 years, 7 months, 1 day.
Gary attended District 24 school thru the 8th grade, 9th thru 12th grade at Fairbury High School. He farmed with his father when he got a job on the Rock Island Railroad as an engineer, when me met and married Joy Fredricksen and this union was blessed with 3 children. He and Joy moved to Edgar Nebraska where he started his own Insurance agency and sold Real Estate. They later divorced. He met and married Marjorie (Brelsford) Aksamit on January 21, 1989, where they moved to Superior Nebraska and continued to sell Real Estate and manage rental properties until Marjorie's passing on October 15th, 2010. Gary retired and wintered in Mesa Arizona where he enjoyed golf and happy hour with friends.
Gary participated in many clubs and activities, Fairbury Jaycees, Edgar and Superior Lyons clubs, Edgar Community Club, Church of the Plains, Nelson and Superior Country Clubs where he loved to golf. He also was on City Council of both Edgar and Superior townships.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife Marjorie, sister Janice Ward, brother Leslie Ward, and infant son Allen Laverne.
Survivors include his son Michael Ward of Ord Nebraska, daughter Patti (Tom) Mahlberg of Houston Texas, grandchildren Ashley Ward, Chris Ward of Kansas, Tyler (Sonja) Mahlberg of Ohio, Gemini Mahlberg of Houston, 2 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Memorial services were held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating.
Music was "Softly and Tenderly", "How Great Thou Art" and "It Is Well With My Soul."
