Christian Biography of Genevieve Blau

Genevieve Jeanette Blau, the daughter of Charles and Verna (Tillbury) Snell, was born on July 31, 1925 in Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on January 2, 2017 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 5 months, 2 days.

Genny was one of nine children growing up in the Nelson, Lawrence area. She attended and graduated from Lawrence Public schools.

On June 16, 1945, Genny was united in marriage to Wilbur Ernest Blau in Mankato, Kansas and to this union three children were born. She was employed at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska for many years, earning the caring kind award.

Her roses were her pride and joy and she truly loved her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She resided at Parkview Haven Nursing Home, Deshler Nebraska the past 2 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilbur; infant daughter Virginia; her brothers, Walter, Dan and Glenn and sisters, Verna Blau, Marie Fischer and Lola Benker; granddaughters Lisa Jolene Blau and Amanda Kay Storeholder.

Survivors include her sons, Ernest and wife Diane of Davenport, Nebraska and Richard and wife LeAnne of Hastings, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren: Christie Stratman and husband Lynn, Brent Blau and wife Jennifer, Angela Kathman and husband Mitch and Ryan Storeholder, 8 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren: Marcus and Megan Tofflemire, McKensi, Brooklyn & Treyton Blau, Rachel, Kaylee, Darren Kathman, Logan, Gracie and Maddie Stratman; and her two brothers, Ernie and wife Leota of Sutton, Nebraska and Ray and wife Penny of Hastings, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:00PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Kristen Van Stee officiating.

Music was "How Great Thou Art," "In The Garden," and "Amazing Grace," with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Linda Ostdiek as her accompanist.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Bevard, Marcus Tofflemire, Brent Blau, Lynn Stratman, Mitch Kathman, and Rick Snell. Honorary Pallbearers were Christie Stratman, Jennifer Blau, Angela Kathman, Ryan Storeholder, Megan Tofflemire, McKensi Blau, Brooklyn Blau, Treyton Blau, Rachel Kathamn, Kaylee Kathman, Darren Kathman, Logan Stratman, Gracie Stratman and Maddie Stratman.

Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.
