Christian Biography of George Jensen

George G. Jensen, the son of Addis and Esther (Riber) Jensen, was born on October 20, 1933 near Oak, Nebraska. He passed away on September 13, 2019 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 24 days.

George was baptized on November 19, 1933 and confirmed on June 5, 1949 at Bethany Lutheran Church. He attended Weimer Country School and graduated from Ruskin High School in Ruskin, Nebraska. On June 9, 1957 he was united in marriage to Marlys Troudt in Nelson, Nebraska and to this union was born four children, Deb, Jay, Kevin and Janae. He was inducted into the US Navy in 1956 and discharged in 1958.

George owned and operated Jensen Oil Company for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the USD #278 School Board and former president. Board member and former president of the Mankato Lutheran Church, the Kansas Oil Marketers Association Board member, Carriage Manor Resort Board member in Arizona and a member of the Olive Hill Church.

One of George's great loves was having coffee with his friends. He was an avid Kansas State Wildcat Fan, enjoyed playing billiards and playing sports with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and of course riding his Harley Davidson. He lived in the communities of Ruskin, Nebraska, Mankato, Kansas, Meza, Arizona during the winters, and Superior, Nebraska.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Addis and Esther. He is survived by his wife Marlys of Superior, his children, Deb (Marvin) Boyles of Mankato; Jay (Angela) Jensen of Lindsborg; Kevin (Kathleen) Jensen of Hingham, MA; and Janae (Daniel Ferguson) Jensen of Prairie Village, Kansas. Eight grandchildren, Jamie (Brad) Elkin, Scott (Kristine) Boyles, Brady (Samantha) Alexander, Cortney (Van) Alexander, Clancy (Mason) Bock, Jordan (Justin) Gomez, and Hannah and Rachel Jensen. 13 great-grandchildren, Alex and Harper Elkin, Kyler, Kamden and Averi Boyles, Parker, Rowan and Maren Alexander, Liam Alexander, Bruer and Elsie Bock, and Coen and Quentin Gomez. One brother, Willard (Trudy) Jensen of Wichita; sisters-in-law Muriel Follmer of Nelson, and Donna (Darrell) Jensen of Cadams; along with a host of other relatives and many, many friends.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 1:30 pm from the Olive Hill Church south of Superior, Nebraska with Matt Ehlers officiating with Military Honors following his service. Samantha Alexander was the soloist and Gloria Schlaefli was the pianist.

The American Legion served as the Honor Guard and the VFW served as the Firing Squad.

A private family interment was held on September 14, 2019 at the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.
