Christian Biography of George (Bug) Stierwalt
George Stierwalt, the son of George and Myrtle (Hattan) Stierwalt, was born on March 22, 1933 in Edgar, Nebraska. He passed away on September 7, 2020 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 5 months, 16 days.
George attended grade school in Edgar. He enlisted with the United State Army on July 28, 1953 serving during the Korean war and was honorably discharged on June 7, 1955.
He was united in marriage to Christina Lois Mittan on January 9, 1955 at Hebron, Nebraska. This union was blessed with 4 children. George retired from Ideal Cement after 35 years of service. During his lifetime, George lived in Nelson, Deweese, Clay Center, Oak, Ruskin and Superior. George was a former member of the Baptist Church in Superior. He was also a member of the Boilermakers Union. He loved to fish and hunt, playing cards and vegetable gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Danny Stierwalt and Max Stierwalt, a grandson, Zach Beale and a great-grandson, Dylan Jones.
Survivors include his wife Lois; children Laura Kohtz of Hastings; Tim Stierwalt of Superior; Holly Colgrove of Superior; and Kelly (Miles) Beale of Nelson; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy Colgrove, Christina Jones, Joshua Colgrove, Jennifer (Adam) Neumann, Sarah Kohtz, Grace (Shaun) Chipman, Kimberly (Quentin) Colwell and Jesse Beale. 19 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bill Stierwalt of Beatrice and sisters, Sue Renter of Valley, Nebraska; Mary Wheeland of Nelson, Nebraska and JoAnn Rothchild of Superior, Nebraska along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
