Obituary

Glen Richard Sunday was born to Elmer Savanah Sunday and Polly May (Brennick) Sunday May 27, 1929 on a farm north of Hastings, Nebraska. With family at his bedside he passed away April 2, 2016 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska. Glen was 86 years old.

He attended Hastings Public Schools and one year of college. Glen was baptized in 1948 at St. Cecilia and has been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson for 66 years. Glen served in the Army during WWII from 1946 – 1948 and the National Guard from 1948 to 1950.

Glen married Audrey Marie Lutzwick on May 6, 1950 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Hastings. Six children were born to this union.
He managed the State Theater, worked at LT&T Telephone Co, the Ammunition Depot, test house #13 as a Powder Inspector and ABC Electric Co. all in Hastings, Nebraska. Glen served 41 years at South Central Power District and owned his own business, Sunday Electric doing residential, commercial and farm wiring.

Glen was involved in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master and District Commissioner; he belonged to the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, IBEW/E. Board and was a representative on the State Electric Board.

He enjoyed playing chess, hunting, fishing, electrical work, yard work and crossword puzzles. Glen enjoyed using his talents to help others.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael, brothers: John and wife Lydia Sunday, Doyne Sunday, sisters: Virginia and husband Tino Grasso, Bernadine (Pat) and husband Bill Jerome, Charlotte Rose Sunday.

He is survived by his wife Audrey of Nelson, Nebraska, sons: Jon Sunday of Camdenton, Missouri, Joseph Sunday and wife Judy of Osceola, Nebraska, Martin Sunday and wife DeAnn of Windsor, California; daughters: Denise Leigh and husband Merle of Osage Beach, Missouri, Glenda Nelson and husband Kenneth of London, England. 11 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren, one sister, Donna Marie Parson and husband George of Lake Placid, Florida along with a host of friends and relatives.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:00am. At Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nelson, Nebraska.

Interment with Full Military Rites: Tuesday following Mast, Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska.

Rosary Service: Monday, April 4, 2016 at 7:00pm. At Sacred Heart Catholic Church,Nelson, Nebraska.

Visitation: Monday, April 4, 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. At Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nelson, Nebraska.

Music: "Through The Years" and "One Pair of Hands". "Old Rugged Cross" sung by Zoe Clark and "Thank You God" by Thatcher Sunday. Marcia Drudik, Organist.

Pallbearers: Jason Sunday, Glen Nelson, Corey Sunday, Mike Nelson, Justin Sunday and Doug Hartman.

Honorary Pallbearers: Drew McCartney, Boyd McCartney, Lorrel Peterson, Craig Cox, Don Strobl, Dennis Wademan, Pat Rynearson and Dennis Hurt.

Lector: Gary Osdtiek. Acolyte: Richard Sullivan.
